Anyone who doesn't know the lyrics to "I'll Be There" shouldn't be singing it. confused

They only had one day to prepare for that performance. Also, most of them, except for Debbie Allen's daughter, may not be as familiar with MJ's music. I thought it to be a very touching tribute.

hmph! I still say they should've known the words. Between the original and Mariah's version, the song is almost inescapable. Hell, she even put the little trill on "where there is love" like Mariah did.

BTW, I liked it, too.

Hell, I don't know all of the words. It was the sentiment that really counts. Incidentally, I cannot STAND Mariah's version...

I'm not a fan of Mariah's either (but then, I'm not a big fan of Mariah period).

Some people don't. As for Mariah, she needs to go back to basics and also needs to find out who she is. I was a big fan of her first CD, but she has tanked in my eyes, ever since.

I agree that she needs to go back to basics. I love her, but I am so tired of the "hip-hop" Mariah. I need more ballads like "My All".

I like "Vanishing", but I'd take anything from
Butterfly back to her debut.

I'm not trying to profit from the death of MJ but I did want to trade up and get the special editions of albums like "Thriller" and "Bad" with bonus content (finally bought "Off the Wall"). Anyway, I went on Amazon and noticed that they are selling for quite a bit more even used. Wonder if this is just misuigded pricing and perhaps no one is buying them or they original CD pressings of "Thriller" and "Bad" worth something?

I just went on ahead and order the new 3-disc 'Hello World: Motown Solo Collection' off of Amazon. Since I never heard his solo Motown albums in their entirely, I just thought I'd round out my MJ collection with this one. Right now, I'm looking for copies of Jackson 5's Get It Together, Skywriter and the Jacksons' self-titled 1976 album along with Goin' Places. I already have Triumph and Destiny, but I was thinking about buying the reissues. Are the newly-remastered issues of these albums worth the price?

You should be able to find most of that on Amazon. Skywriter and Get It Together were reissued on the same disc, but it's the one that's hardest to find (or most expensive). Goin' Places should be easy to track down. I love my reissues of Destiny and Triumph.

Heres a question for the hardcore. I was reading an article about MC Hammer from around the time "too legit too quit" was just about to drop (late 1991). Now of course "dangerous" was released around this time aswell. Interviewer mentioned to Hammer that the first single was a ballad but did not mention the title. Hammer mentioned briefly it was kinda a strange choice for first single but a good song. Any idea to what the song was? Was "black and white" always first choice for single?....

.... Now I know it cant be "heal the world" or "gone too soon", but my bet that maybe "will you be there" was considered as a lead single? He did perform it with "black and white" on MTV 10, which was before the album dropped. Any ideas?

Interesting how Michael allegedly said "rap is dead" when Quincy tried to hook MJ up with Run DMC for the "bad" album, calling Quincy out of touch. Then of course, Michael hired a few rappers for "dangerous" LOL.

He sounds abit bitter that Michael dropped him, heck, who wouldn't be? But credit to Quincy for speaking his mind and not sugar coating....

...Whilst I loved MJ's work post Quincy Jones, theres no question Quincy, along with Mike to a lesser extent, masterminded that famous trilogy of albums they did together. The production and songs in general on those 3 albums are insanely good. The arrangements, staff writers, mixers etc... made those MJ compostions come alive. Without Quincy, the albums wouldn't sound half as good....

....No one else woulda really done that for Mike. Those 3 albums are as much about Quincy's arrangement and production gimmicks, along with his staff writers, mixers, engineers etc... as they are about Mj's songs and input in general.

You people hate on this mutha, but its one of my all time fav Jacko tracks. Listen to those dx7 presets. Heaven! The great bouncy feel this track has. It sounds like it could come from those cheesy kids movies of the 80's. The song (and album "bad" for the most part), is so stuck in the 80's and this song inparticular makes me feel so warm and nostalgic. Love it. You just know the whole "bad" album must of cost a bomb. Look at all the session guys for starters. And all the then very new hi tech synths etc... You just feel every penny was money well spent, and it shows on "just good friends" aswell.

Look at the people on synths: Michael Boddicker, Rhett Lawrence, Greg Phillingaines etc...Love it!

Anybody that don't know the words to "I'll Be There" right now should go online, read the lyrics and then play the song again. After that, come back and perform it again. lol

I've been playing Michael Jackson non-stop for 2 weeks now. The kids at work asked me to make them a greatest hits collection. I think I've finally whittled down the overly bloated 4-disc version I made in 2005 into something more manageable and akin to what they were looking for. And it's STILL 3 discs disbelief Tough shit for them if they wanted something more concise and only the stuff they already knew. lol Hopefully they'll explore some of the lesser known singles.

My friend is a fan but isn't familiar with the pre OTW music. He has Thriller, HIStory, Invincible, and some comps, so I made him a 4 CD set, but with only solo material except for Heartbreak Hotel, Everybody, Blues Away, Show You The Way To Go, and That's What You Get For Being Polite

A 36 DVD Collection of all his concerts and videos

slaps his brother PP4 for buying cheap looking bootlegs

Dude, that is a bootleg...an elaborate bootleg, but a bootleg nontheless lol

All those concerts are available for download on certain forums for FREE. All you gotta do is download them and print out the covers

Someone joined the forum, downloaded them all, and made that boxset lol
