En Vogue Appreciation---What is your FAVORITE En Vogue Song? The remake of "Giving him something he can feel" by Aretha Franklin En Vogue had class, sex appeal, and could actually SING!!! A stupid man’s report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.

EnVogue is my favorite female group of the 90s. My favorite song is probably either "Lies" or "Give it up turn it loose". **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I absolutely love En Vogue! "Giving Him Something He Can Feel" is definitely my favorite video of theirs. Picking a favorite song is hard, but I think I have to go with this one:

"Free Your Mind" is the funkiest song they've ever done. But there isn't a song I hate on the Funky Divas album. SUCH a great CD.

Waiting On You off the first cd is my favorite song. Upper persuasion for the lower invasion

I saw En Vogue right after the first album dropped. They were the 2nd act on the MC Hammer Tour. Vanilla Ice opened, En Vogue was 2nd, then Hammer. I was so NOT into them at the time, and I just found them boring. In reality they probably were NOT boring, but I just wanted to see Hammer. This was 1990 after all. It was when I heard "Never Gonna Get It" that I took a bigger notice, then "Free Your Mind" set me on end! It's a good walk/strut song. Kinda like "Too Funky" is from George Michael.

It's a tie for me between 'Free Your Mind', 'Give It Up Turn It Loose', and 'Giving Him Something He Can Feel'. All great songs. I really love their rendition of 'Yesterday' too. If I remember correctly, Luther couldn't stand EnVogue or Anita Baker. Oooh, I also like 'Whatta Man', even though it was more Salt N Pepa's song...they just sang backup. I was in Tulsa, OK at the time. I think it was summer, but no clue when.

Don't Go
from album: Born to sing Lyrics: I'm so glad to see you Now I have the chance to say Our love's been growing freely What must I do to make you stay Don't go I feel the time is right 'Cause my love for you has grown Up until this very night I had doubts your love was strong enough To break me down Now I'm caught up in this web You've spun for me tonight Don't go It takes a gifted man To release the love in me So far you're the only man Who has gone this far for me It feels it's out of my hands Can't think twice, it's much too right This may be my only chance Don't go I've been such a fool To have kept my love for you Could have lost your love searching for the truth Don't go nowhere You know I care Stay right here with me forever baby Don't go Let's make sweet love tonight I won't put up any fight Your wish is my command Lay me down upon my bed And make me feel the heat Of your body next to mine I just have one demand Don't go You send chills down my spine I surrendered all my love You captured all my life In just one night of ecstasy You brought me to my knees Your first bite was just to strong You left a scar on me Don't go I've been such a fool to have kept my love from you Could of lost your love searching for the truth Don't go I'm so glad to see you Now I have the chance to say Our love's been growing freely What must I do to make you stay Don't go [Edited 7/17/09 8:58am] Um... let me warm up my vocals

It's hard as hell to pick a favorite but if i had
to pick one it would be Don't Go off the debut album. I used to be in love with Dawn watching her sing in this video. Other favorites are: Can't stay away( I like this remake much better than Giving him something he can feel) Lies remix Strange Part of me Never gonna get it Don't let go Runaway Love(2nd favorite actually) Just listening to Part of Me. That debut album brings back a lot of memories. Best female group of the 90's period. [Edited 7/16/09 19:06pm] Don't laugh at my funk

Not really my kind of thing, I'm more of a rocker and soul-oldies kinda guy, but I thought Hold On and Never Gonna Get It were fantastic. They were kind of strange, but very danceable and appealing. The harmonies in Hold On are really bizarre for modern R&B but they seem like the close, slightly dissonant harmonies you heard in doo-wopp groups like the Moonglows.
At the time they were having hits on the radio I thought they were THE best popular R&B group I'd heard in years. Too bad it was short-lived but I wish them success in their reunion.

I never really thought about it that way, but you are right. Maybe that's what the appeal of EnVogue was about in the beginning? A lot of their first album concentrated on old school harmony with up-to-date arrangements. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Hold On,Never gonna get it and Free Your Mind.. they did a great job covering that song and damn they always looked hot..I forgot who said that en vogue must be french for "legs 4 days"..lol

1.Hold On
2.Don't Let Go 3.Give It Up Turn It Loose 4.Free Your Mind 5.Too Gone Too Long They were great. They were definitely my second favourite girl R&B group of all times after TLC, AND they worked with Prince on Stevie Wonder's What The Fuss. It just seems so unfair they never got a number 1 hit. They were number 2 three times in the states. Hold On in 1990 behind Glenn Medeiros & Bobby Brown's She Ain't Worth It, My Lovin' in 1992 behind Kris Kross' Jump and Don't Let Go in 1997 behind Toni Braxton's Unbreak My Heart. Free Your Mind
Don't Let Go but I don't really think they aged well as a group. They just oversang so much, and I know it's cause it was revealed that it had something to do with how funky divas was mixed. Is masterpiece theatre worth buying? I know they combined r&b and classical samples and I heard a few clips.

Oversang? Wow, I'm going to have to completely disagree with that. Is masterpiece theatre worth buying? I know they combined r&b and classical samples and I heard a few clips.
Well, it's not a favorite. I haven't listened to it in a long, long time. I remember being let down, but I don't remember it being as bad as people say. Still, I wouldn't bother purchasing it until you have Born to Sing, Funky Divas, Runaway Love, and EV3 (which I enjoyed quite a bit). "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
