Fever
Body Language
LightYears
X

Fever is her "classic" album.. not my favorite, but she'll be remembered for this one most, IMO.

Body Language is my favorite of the 00's. Kylie mining the 80's, but from the groovier point of the decade.

Light Years is great as well (lots of prime pop!), but I have to be in a certain mood to listen. "Disco Down", "Loveboat", "Koocachoo" are my favorites from this one.

X is a bit more patchy, but is still fun.

I love them all. They all have different strengths. Her work has been so consistent this decade so it's hard for me to pick a favourite.

You nailed the order for me.

Kylie is my favorite artist of the 2000s, which sounds completely peculiar, but her output validates it.

I really think all four studio albums are quite strong. Fever and Body Language comfortably rest among my top 25 albums of all-time, while Light Years is within the top 100, with X nipping at its heels. I really don't feel that you can go wrong with an 00s album from Miss Minogue, so I'll describe them instead. I have longer reviews that I can share, if you'd like.

Light Years: Over-the-top disco/pop filled to the brim with kitsch. Some fan once said that this album could make her happy in a nuclear Holocaust, and she's not wrong.

Fever: Still pop with a little bit of disco, but it goes further into dance/electronica territory. It is her signature album, and rightfully so. It's about as perfect of a pop album as the 2000s has to offer, and it is more cohesive than Light Years.

Body Language: While still carrying an ear for infectious pop hooks, this album is drenched in 80s synth funk and R&B influences. It's by far her "coolest" album, and it alienated a lot of her fans who wanted her to release another album in the vein of Fever. I admire her for taking such a risk, and it is probably her most rewarding album to listen to.

X: This album is a bit of a reflection upon her career, with various songs paying a nod or two to different eras. As such, it lacks the cohesion of her previous works, but it is still a solid pop album.

Fever might be the best but it might sound a bit like yesterday's heated-up cookings as the filter disco sound is one of those things that got dated pretty fast (given that very few styles of music have gotten noticeably dated during this decade, it's in itself something of an achievement). Other than that I'd say Body Language has the best songs and the most interesting products (if you like American pop music more than British, it may be more to your liking). X is a pretty solid collection of pop songs, but many say it barely has any standout tracks. It probably fuses the two previous albums stylistically quite well though, like it's a mixture between those two.

Light Years is quite full of silliness, actually.

That's pretty good summary on each album. I totally agree. Haven't totally gotten into "X" yet.

X!

Underrated, a really good pop album!

But I think it suffers from the many producers. Kylie always asks hundreds of songwriters to provide her songs and then she chooses.

I prefer albums that only feature one or two producers so it sounds more organic.

I didn't really care for X when it came out, but basically I've been playing it on a rather regular basis to this day.

It's a good mix of different type of stuff. Thus a quality pop album and I definitely do think it can last repeated listening.

with different single choices and some more promotion it could have done better.

Honestly for the most part Kylie has lost me, i mean i respect her and all, but i find her repetitive throughout, i mean songs here and there are good, but to get a full album from her that i can listen to over and over, hasnt happend yet

I liked that one a lot at the time for sure. I guess lastdecember's quote fits how I feel about X though.. even though "The One" is superb.

Light Years was the first album of the Parlophone era. The album that brought Kylie back from her Indie Days to being the Polish Cool Pop Star we all know and love today.

it's kitschy, it's campy, it's fun
