Despite the cartoonish outfits, Lady Gaga may not be the best of pop stars to introduce to your children, what with the whole pant-less space queen look and the thinly veiled sexual metaphors in her music. Yet no one’s going to blame producer RedOne for dressing his tyke in Gaga-inspired fashions.

After all, the once-burgeoning studio magician has become one of the industry’s most in-demand players in the last 12 months, thanks in large part to the rather sudden emergence of the Gaga empire. Since its release last fall, Lady Gaga’s debut, “The Fame,” has sold more than 990,000 albums in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, and should top 1 million within the next week or two.

She currently has two singles in the top 10 on the U.S. pop charts -- “Poker Face” and “Love Game,” both of which feature RedOne’s ‘80s-inspired handiwork. Such success comes with perks. The obvious benefit is the privilege of working with everyone from Michael Jackson to Usher to “American Idol’s” Rolling Stone cover boy Adam Lambert.

Then there’s the free baby clothes.

“Lady Gaga is thinking all the time about how she’s going to design some new idea she has, like breaking glass and making a bra with it,” says the Moroccon-born RedOne, who requests to be known only by his stage name. “When I had my baby, I got a call from Gaga, and she made a baby Gaga suit. You never know what to expect. It’s always a show with her, and she shocks you with something.”

RedOne will step out of his Hollywood-based studio this week and join Gaga for a few weeks on her European tour. The two, says the producer, are beginning work on the follow-up to “The Fame,” although it may be a while, with word last week coming from Kanye West that he and the New York-bred 23 year-old pop star would be staging a fall tour.

It's easy to compare Lady Ga Ga to the young Prince.

Let's look at the similarities.

She's weird looking. When P first hit the stage, he was weird looking. Prince came across as almost a hermaphrodite. Same with this chick. She bends gender much like did. Both created their own fashion statements.

She was a musical child prodigy who grew from a religious background. She's a talented singer-songwriter who has written songs for many artists. She learned piano by ear at the age of four.

Her act is based on sexuality. Prince was hyper sexual when he broke. Both metaphorically hint at overt sex through lyrics. Poker Face turns into Fuck Her Face in the chorus. A modern-day Let's Pretend We're Married.

Both made bread with fabulous beats. I don't pretend to be a fan of hers yet, but there are some absolute Erotic City type tracks being laid down by her lately. She infuses electronica with pop in a similar, almost futuristic way. Just like our man did in the day.

I see striking similarities. She has many haters, but there's a kinship with one who came before that bears mentioning. I'm interested to see her progression in the pop game.

What do you think?

Being Prince-inspired and being "The New Prince" is NOT the same thing at all.

Beside Prince, Lady Gaga is also inspired by Madonna & David Bowie. But no one in going to claim LG as "The New Madonna" or "The New Bowie".

I think Prince intended on toying with gender schemas and traits. Lady Gaga didn't intend on it though I can see why people think she looks like a drag queen at times despite being very feminine in her style.

She's really good though.

LORD- KANYE? I'd rather say Lady Ga Ga. He can't sing worth a damn- or play anything. Barely can compose. And yes- I HAVE listened and was underwhelmed. I'd prefer to think of Outkast wearing that comparison.

Look, she's not the most talented artist out there, but I really think it's just because we're getting old. As far as pop stars go in today's business, she's one of the only ones who combines talent, style, work ethic and a sense of mystery.

She's not Prince, but like Prince, she does seem to have the goods to make for an interesting pop career. I can understand why the kiddies dig her.

FUUUUUCK NO!!! barf

She's fake as shit and as others have said, she's trying to hard to be avant-garde and it just comes off as cheesy.

I tried to see what all the hoopla was about, but could only take about 1 minute of her noise before I changed the channel. (think it was when she was on AI or one of those shows.)

I don't see her as the new Prince, Madonna, Michael or anyone else. Not even close. I see that she has talent but I'm not impressed by it, for some reason. I find her dull.
