Janet Pictures excited

With the one glove cool .. what year is this photo?

It was probably around 84. It looks like they were going to one of those awards shows, where Michael managed to pick up every single award going that night for Thriller. Btw is any of old enough to remember that night at the grammies when he won everything?

Yup it was Grammy night. Michael called them to the stage during one of his acceptances... you can see LATOYA AND JANET in the 3rd Youtube I posted below.

I was 3, the memories are a little foggy... got Youtube to help

I love how people always refer to the night that MJ and Quincy won X amount of Grammys implying they were all for Thriller, but at least one of those Grammys was for a fricken E.T. storybook the same year!

lol

lol Janet sometimes talks like a phone sex operator and Mariah often dresses like a streetwalker. Neither is really better or worse than the other in the over-sexed department IMO. That pic of Janet is still hotter than most of the ones I see nowadays, but that's just my opinion. Honestly, Mariah only has amazing legs, her overall physique isn't on the same level as Janet's, but Janet's also a dancer so that's probably why. Oh, well, Mariah seems happy with herself and Nick seems to enjoy it so I guess that's all that should matter.

Personally, I'd rather see Janet flash that amazing six pack than continue to see Mariah squeeze into outfits that are waay too small for her. Sometimes it looks like she can barely breath due to the extreme tightness. I absolutely adore her, but I'm over her being scantily clad especially since she can actually sing and really has no reason to be half-dressed like that to promote herself. Celine Dion is a great vocalist and she doesn't walk around in hoochie shorts, halter tops, and super short dresses that look like they were painted on like Mariah does. Sometimes I wish that Mariah would just pull a Janet already and stop being such a tease, because teasing is really only cute and amusing for a short period of time no matter who's doing it.

In the end, neither one of them is really conservative, which is their choice. If the music is good, that's all I really care about. Janet is a freaky, exhibitionist, and maybe Mariah is an undercover freak, but Janet has never denied that she's freaky...she did leave Oprah shocked and speechless when the subject arose during that interview. lol

I'm just getting tired of these oversexed divas. I mean when they start out, they are all innocent and then BAM sex fiend. It's really annoying. It's like they have to compensate for their lack of talent by being slutty.

lol That's because most of the over-sexed ones either have very few or no actual, hardcore talents to begin with, so they have to use their bodies to sell their product. What they do really isn't that much different from actresses or supermodels who use sex appeal and their bodies to market themselves.

First, I don't think any of them were ever really innocent if you actually listen to most of the lyrics in their songs. Take early Britney and Christina for example, neither 'Genie In A Bottle' or 'Hit Me Baby' are wholesome and kid-friendly songs when you actually listen to the words. Sugar-coated sex directed to youngsters is all those songs really were, but they were catchy as hell and still are 10 years later.

Personally, the only things about female artists being over-sexed that really bothers me is when: 1) they market this ideology to young kids and impressionable teenage girls (main reason I've never been able to really like Britney); and, 2) when artists who are great vocalists do it (ie. Mariah, Christina Aguilera, and Beyonce). Why? If you can actually sing your ass off, why lower yourself to being seen as some sex kitten? To an extent, Madonna has to do it, because who wants to go to a Madonna concert and see her sitting on a stool just singing the whole show without 20 back-up dancers, elaborate stage designs and costumes, and loads of choreography...well, besides her diehard fans of course? If you can sell your music using just your voice without the sexed-up image (which Mariah was able to do in the beginning of her career), than why would you be okay with people seeing you more as a hot piece of ass than for the real talent you have? I don't get it...don't get it at all. Let the mediocre and no talent ones sell their bodies to make a buck, because plastic surgery can only fix so much and it damn sure can't give someone real talent if they never had any to begin with.

let's get back to the Velvet Rope, I'm tired of hearing about Latoya's skinny butt

I think the production is so different from most of her other albums and lush and melodic. Even though I always liked Special, I forgot just how pretty the music was, I listened to VR after so long the other day and how helpful Janet is through her music. I also think some of the songs on there like Empty, Anything, Velvet Rope as well as others are so underrated.

Don't know why anyone would question this. Her and Michael both show signs of dealing with depression and food issues....

As far as people's comments about her "crumbing career". Janet had a great run, hopefully she has managed her $$$ well, and can comfortably make an exit. Everyone can't stay on top forever, especially not in the pop world.....

Even though Bad has the 80's stamp all over it, I think it's aged better just in the same way Madonna's 80's sounding work has. I love all of Janet's stuff too from the 80's, but it was too overproduced that it sounds completely different from anything else out there to blend in with newer stuff the way things off albums like OTW, Thriller, Bad, True Blue, Madonna, Like a Prayer have.

And I'm a huge Janet fan.

How can you say "Bad" aged better then janets stuff, when the bad album including the track title, sounds so 80s, from Speed demon, to Another Part of me.

OTW sounds so disco and 70s, it sounds so much like Quincy jones from the 70s.

It does sound like you have a biased. I think songs like Get on the floor, falling in love, Girlfriend HAVE NOT AGED WELL, if anything they are cheesy. But again its everyone's opinions. But i have a feeling you would feel more comfortable playing janet jackson Nasty in your car, versus Michael Jackson's Girlfriend from OTW. lol lol lol

Pretty ironic that the interviews that allowed the most post-editing came out with the best answers. I think with live shows like Ellen, Oprah, (Rosie O'Donnell back in that VR era), a few candid comments squeaked out but generally she was answering with 'real-time editing' and a big filter or wall went up. That's why I like BET's interviews.

What About Lyrics
Janet Jackson

We walked along the beach
What a moon lit night
He held my hands in his
He kissed me he said
I wanna spend my life with you
I want you for my wife
Just then I thought

Chorus:
What about the times you lied to me
What about the times you said no one would want me
What about all the shit you've done to me
What about that
What about that
What about the times you yelled at me
What about the times I cried
You wouldn't even hold me
What about those things
What about that
What about that

I took a pause
And then a deep sigh
He looked right into my eyes
As he said
I know I didn't say somethin' wrong
I didn't have the courage to say
But then I thought

Repeat Chorus

Oh

Chorus 2:

What about the times you hit my face
What about the times you kept on when I said
No more please
What about those things
What about that
What about that oh
What about the times you shamed me
What about the times when you said you didn't fuck
her
She only gave you head
What about that
What about that

Don't wanna live my life in misery
Don't tell me you did it 'cause you love me
I don't believe
I'm sick and tired
Your deceptive games
Wonder where
You have been
I can't live life wondering

My heart was poundin'
But the time had come
To stop lettin' my whisperin' heart control me
And tellin' my screamin' mind what to do
I looked him straight in the eye
And then I said

Repeat Chorus

Repeat Chorus 2

Repeat Chorus

Repeat Chorus 2
A stupid man’s report of what a clever man says can never be accurate, because he unconciously translates what he hears into something he can understand.

NO NO NO. YES, she has inspired Britney and Ciara- however,Britney says that her biggest influence is Madonna. Mariah had a voice no one had heard before...such a wide range and such a unique voice. Mariah does not dance, we know this lol Yes, the whistle register was familar due to Minne Ripertin(can't remember the last name). As with Christina, she has been influenced by Mariah as well as others, not Janet. Remember Christina doesn't dance as well. BUT EACH ALBUM have songs that are dated, that is my whole argument. Michaels things have not aged that much better, he does have a few select songs that have, but the whole albums have NOT, and i believe you are giving way to much credit.

Bad Vs Nasty, as far as Im concerned, neither aged that well.
He doesn't even know im alive vs Girlfriend, both have aged terribly. Nor would i play them in the car.

There Majority of OTW has not aged well, and even some of the songs sound like they are off the Wiz soundtrack lol lol thanks to quincy.

I believe Funny how time flies, and lady in my life are both amazing.

80s stuff sounds 80s, cause it was made in the 80s and even with over production it sounds better then this Kanye West, Lil Wayne Crap thats out right now. Well thats my opinion anyways
