cloud9 mmmm... I really love this one too, and Fast Car, but I love all her music, it's always from the heart and with a message, and her voice always conveys so much emotion, which I love ... very talented.

'Telling Stories' is better than her debut.

Yeah, this IS a cool track. I heard this was dedicated to somebody.

That whole album is beautiful, and that's one of the standout tracks! Really lovely.

It's kinda refreshing to hear again the original version because the radio always plays the crappy Boyzone/Ronan Keating version.

You know I think she's just refreshing full stop... she just writes great songs, gets up on stage and sings and plays, with none of the other crap, because she doesn't need it...puts a lot of other people to shame doesn't it?

She really was great for a while there. "Fast Car" is still her best song. The whole first album is classic.

I think 'the problem' with Tracy's career is: her debut album (which I love) was so perfect, that she has been busy trying to live up to it since. And that every new album she releases gets (sometimes over-critically) compared to that first masterpiece.

The same i see with other artists by the way: Tori Amos (after 'Little Earthquakes') and Pearl Jam (after 'Ten').

Anyone agrees?

Yes, hard to live up to such a brilliant first album! Doesn't that happen a lot in the industry though? New artists probably have years to write that first album, then they become successful and.. well you know the rest...

From a commercial standpoint, I might agree (in the case of Tracy, anyway...) But she's released some terrific records since her debut. "Crossroads" is fantastic.

I don't agree at all with Pearl Jam and Tori Amos. They've both had massive success with albums after their debut. In Tori's case, "Boys for Pele" was her biggest chart success by a wide margin, and she's still doing well - she just scored her 5th straight Top 10 album. Not many other 40+ solo female artists even coming close to that (apart from Madonna, of course).

I really disagree with that. Have you heard other albums of hers? Again, I think 'Telling Stories' is her best. And I have her catalog.
