Meshell N'degeocello Presents The Spirit Music Jamia: Dance of the Infidel

I listen to this and hear the sort of jazz effort folks seem to think Prince and his band would be capable of doing. It bests NEWS with its sheer cohesiveness, mastery of form and virtuosity.

And, I like how it provides a forum for Meshell's jazzier leanings to be seen within a more conventional context -- as opposed to the strains of it you glimpse in "The World Has Made Me the Man of my Dreams."

I really enjoyed it when it first came out but I don't play it as much as I would have thought. I occasionally forget about it but I think it's a great album.

She's such a talent (D.C. pride wink ) I love surfin' Youtube for her clips. Her work with Chris "Daddy" Dave, for example, just out-and-out slams...

I play Infidel and NEWS back to back. I think they're both in the same place. NEWS is a bit more electronic while Infidel is more organic.

AAAAARRRGGH! Best is NOT A VERB! STOP IT! machinegun And Meshell's albums are never "efforts", they're albums. I thought I was reading an iTunes review for a second, then I looked and saw I was on the org.

My use of effort complies with common usage. And "best" is a verb. http://dictionary.referen...rowse/best

I'll take your iTunes comment as a compliment. wink
