The thrill is gone from Whitney Houston's latest album.

A Couple of Alright Songs&Her Voice has some Moments but it like the Material falls before it reaches the Finish Line.I'm really Pulling for Her because when She wants too She can Outsing 98.9% of Anybody out here nowadays just on a Really Good Day IMHO.Her Material has Hurt Her overall after Her first album on a whole.this Album is Hit&Alot of Miss IMHO."You Light up My Life" ain't gonna have the effect of "I'll Always Love You"IMHO.

Of course she can out-sing alot of artists, I wish shewould've featured "Ashanti" on her album, just 2 hear her blow Ashanti out the window!!!

Anyway...I havent heard the CD yet, but I know im gonna end up hearing it or buying it somehow no matter what.

"My Love Is Ur Love" was a very under-rated album. Its not classic, but it was good 4 her!

Everyone reaches their peak...Prince being "Sign O The Times" & "Lovesexy", but most of all "Purple Rain"

Michael Jackson "Thriller"

Madonna "Like A Virgin"

Whitney "The Bodyguard SDTK."

Janet...hmmm...im not sure, but All 4 U cant be compared 2 any of the albums from 86-98

It's all about holding it down afterwards, if they fall on their ass with a ok or failed album. They always gonna have another
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

“Just Whitney” is just OK. It really has a few strong songs and a few weak ones. It’s really hit and miss with good songs in between, so overall I like it.

"One Of Those Days" is a cute bouncy R&B while "Love That Man" harkens back to 80s dancepop like her own "How Will I Know" only more sophisticated. "Try It On My Own" is a grand over the top Whitney ballad about surviving. Probably the strongest song on the set (Babyface appears to be back). In "Dear John Letter" she appears to be channeling J. Lo (but with stronger vocals). The weakest stuff is courtesy of Bobby Brown. First their is their laid back duet "My Love", which is short yet becomes annoyingly repetitious toward the end (3 songwriters yet they can't make a whole song). Then there is his co-producded effort in the hopeless "Whatchulookinat", which deserves the cold shoulder radio gave it. Kind of a sad writing effort on behalf of Whitney, who seems to be much more fascinating in interviews. Frantic and spacey at times while also boringly trying (keyword here is trying) to rap. This is a throwaway track if there ever was one, yet it was the first single. IMHO, the album's weakest song. The album has its moments but is lacking at times. Unless she is a hardcore Whitney fan, give her something else. If she is into pop, I would seriously suggest Cher's "Living Proof" and if she likes R&B try Tweet's "Southern Hummingbird". Best yet, give her David Bowie's "Heathen". smile

MJ...well i dont think Thriller was his peak,i mean he only wrote 4 tracks on it,but it is classic.BAD & Dangerous r my very favourite all round albums from Michael.

On another site that I visit, someone started a discussion about how many of today's "eagerly awaited" releases aren't doing so well...

TLC---their new CD is rapidly zooming down the charts

Toni Braxton---her new CD isn't doing so well

Mariah---her new CD didn't even debut at Number One

And now Whitney isn't expected to do all that well either.

Tough times in the music biz!!

TLC:Destiny's Child&A Lead-Singer that stood out Beyonce.something TLC never had&aside from"CrazySexyCool" they have mainly been a Singles Act IMHO.Toni Braxton:Seems like She is just going through the Motions IMHO.I Know She ain't happy with what the Suits are throwing at Her but the Paper is Better now.Mariah:Very Young still but seems ready for the Old Folks Music Home IMHO.She is Stuck with the Formula&can't really push anything different.Whitney:Might do alright Album Wise&I'm Pulling for Whitney but I don't expect alot really.problem is that so many 2nd,3rd&4th Tier Acts get all the Loot spent on them&also the Heavy Acts mentioned above can't get Airplay unless they work with the same People that are working with those 2nd,3rd&4th Tier Acts.so it makes the Mariah's,Whitney's,Toni's look like they are following as too doing there thing.the Biz is a Real Funk.

Tough times in the music biz for the last several years. Putting the emphasis on sales and charts instead of creativity has done nothing but create a musical wasteland.
I can't believe there are some Prince fans who think he should go BACK to a major label.

It's the high school mentality of popularity. They like to have bragging rights.
