Jacko to Lip sync Live in London!

Akon: 'Jackson will lip sync live'

(Sunday May 31, 2009 08:30 AM)

Akon has disappointed scores of fans who have splashed out on tickets for Michael Jackson's comeback concerts by insisting the King of Pop won't be singing live.

The R&B star, who has previously collaborated with the Thriller hitmaker, admits Jackson won't be showing off his vocals during This Is It, his upcoming seven-month London residency, and will instead rely on a pre-recorded track.

He says, "Michael singing I'm not so sure about. He will perform but not sing."

But Akon maintains audiences at the O2 Arena will still be thrilled by the spectacular show Jackson is planning: "It's going to be amazing, I can definitely tell you that. I'm going to have front row tickets. I will have the best tickets in the house and will be so close to the stage you will think that I am on it."

Jackson is scheduled to kick off This Is It in July.

That guy does know nothing about MJ, seriously.

He just talks and talks and talks about MJ just to get some attention for himself.

I wouldn't believe it.

(it's obvious MJ will lipsynch, but not the whole show..)

Too bad MJ will never actually hear the criticism that people would rather listen to his voice than see him dancing live

That's a pretty weird thing to tell to the press prior to another artist's concert run.

Though guess if it is true and he really has this insider information then he's probably just doing a favour to everyone by telling how it is in advance.

what the fuck does he know.. the gigs are top secret.. noone knows whats going on.

i think he will sing about 30 - 40 % and lipsync most of it which is ok since he will be putting a lot of effort into the visuals and the dancing.. which at 50 yrs old will be tough

Why is it o.k. to announce a live concert and to lip sync then, just because you can't dance a lot otherwise at the age of 50? Maybe it's about time to strip down the show then.

He should call it "circus" or "ballet" instead of "concert" or "gig", I suppose.

this is more than a gig, its set to be the most spectacular live show of all time.

bear in mind most stage set ups cost 1 - 2 million for high profile pop stars and jackos budget is 25 million .. u can expect a massive production.

if u wanna a strip down performance go 2 a sheryl crow gig or something

It all comes down to taste, of course, but I personally prefer an intimate gig with REAL musicians who play instruments and sing live rather than a 50-year old dude with a screwed-up nose showing us his personal disneyland.

Just listening to Bowie performing "The man who sold the world" live on the Reality tour. If I had the choice either to pay 200 Euros to see that or to get 200 Euros for seeing Jacko playing with his toys, hell, my 200 Euros will go into David's pocket, for sure!

I'm sure he'll perform live.

Obviously it won't' be the entire show.

I'm guessing it'll be 65% live to 35% miming.

If I had to guess which ones he'll mime- most likely Smooth Criminal, Billie Jean, Thriller, and Man in the Mirror.

MJ always had a citchy taste. I'm seriously fearing he'll add elephants and flowers and stuff on the stage for one verse of Heal The World and stuff.
If that's what he thinks means the biggest show ever.

if it were reminiscent of prince's one nite alone tour with just a small
band, no fireworks and jackson upfront and personal doing songs that he
loves to sign himself, some big hits some album cuts, that would be one
show i would want to see.

this circus, i can pass on. it's gonna be like watching one of his vids
but you're just there as it's happening.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I'm honestly surprised that some people seem to think that's okay. Just because someone was called "king of pop" years ago he's got the right to lip-synch in a "live concert"??? eek

I honestly don't think there is anything wrong with putting on an entertaining show.

Imagine how boring it is to just watch a performer stand on stage and just perform songs (without any movement) through the entire show.

I know I would get bored.

Because Michael Jackson would never have been... MICHAEL JACKSON on singing alone. He blew people away with his dancing, THAT's the image.
And that's why his dancing is much more important for this shows than his singing.

I would have an issue if he was lipsynching the entire concert, but as long as he does the majority of the singing live (even with some lipsynching)- it should be good enough.

O.k., so I understand - every artist who sings 51 % of the songs in concert live and lip syncs only 49 % will get your o.k.??? eek

Then maybe we should call him "king of dancing" and label him a part-time singer.
