He really wasn't going to keep his long straight hair for the shows, due to him simply using a hat on some of his signature performance numbers. With long straight hair and a hat you're bound to look like a banker from the Wild West days.
That hair also sort of covers conveniently the headpiece microphone he has been using. | |

This is the same,tired look he had throughout the 90s He should have gone in a whole new direction...maybe get a radical haircut and wear it short for awhile?
