Tight track indeed. Solid funkbass, horns, guitar-chops, arrangements and more of that in the mix. Paligap posted another cool thread about this album sometime ago : http://prince.org/msg/8/298649 [Edited 5/31/09 15:46pm]

Why did his solo career never take off??

1.) Motown never fully promoted him despite him marrying into the family. 2.) They couldn't (or wouldn't) build him as much as they did Michael. 3.) Jermaine started his post-Jackson 5 solo career at the wrong time.

# 3. When would've been the right time? I don't know... The Jackson's did very well after they left Motown and then MJ's solo career left the damn universe. That's a great album my brother owned it once, I stoled it. [Edited 6/1/09 0:07am]

Wasn't he trying to revive his career in the 1990s, and then something between him and MJ occurred b/c of producers leaving him to work with MJ?
Supposedly how Word to the Badd happened.

Supposedly how Word to the Badd happened. Yep. I think for some reason he's still blacklisted for this. This is probably why he's hesitant to go out on a solo tour now.

It was a fucked up move on his part, considering he was living in Michael's house They didn't reconcile until 1993 or 1994 when the first allegations came through, and even then Michael was hesitant "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

He did well with Don't Take It Personal. If he didn't act so silly making a song like "Word To The Badd" things would've been cool career wise. He dug his own grave to be honest with that. That said though he has made some great jams and I enjoy them. Very talented.

Don't Take It Personal is my jam. It's been in my head for 2 weeks now Have ya'll heard about the rumor that Jermaine was fooling around with Syreeta during '77-81? "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I was just checking "Don't Take It Personal" the other day. As for Syreeta Wright...Love her work and voice. But yep, he was working with her and producing her songs, so who knows? I got that vibe listening to their duets too. Jermaine is a flirt and Syreeta (R.I.P) had an angelic thing about her. Wouldn't be surprised. I love this cute song, Syreeta sounds really cute here. He also produced a version of Signed, Sealed, Delivered for her. Then you have this one years later though: Jermaine definitely learned a lot from Stevie musically and Jamerson playing wise. Love this one too.

That's indeed from another cool album. I dig the uptempo opening-track from that joint : "I Gotta Have Ya", and "I'm Just Too Shy" is mixed on the album right after that song : "It's Still Undone" [Edited 6/1/09 2:46am]
