It interests me that while Missy has been a decent rapper (far from one of the best), writer and producer, that she was at best a marginal singer. Also since when Patti sing just hooks? falloff This is a diva we're talking about. I guess at the time, some rappers were so cocky they say anything. I heard a few talking about "man who you think I am, Marvin Gaye or Smokey Robinson or some shit?" lol

But I'm sure we'd be like "n***a, you ain't no damn Smokey!" lol

Again, don't make no damn SENSE. disbelief

I can actually see it. In fact this was around the year where that rumor that Mary and Kim had a sexual liaison and that Mary was bi, lol.

You're right the WHOLE cast of characters was lezzing it up. Kim for sure that's an open secret and I always got a gay vibe from Angie just a lil too hard. lol

Yeah she does carry that vibe. She couldn't convince me she was any different when she did that "song", I guess, with Lil' Mo, lol.

This was one of my favorite tracks of 1997. My brother and I got out a notepad to try to figure out all of the lyrics. nod

And I don't care what anyone says- Missy can sing on my tracks anytime.

I loved this song so much after graduating from middle school! Left Eye was ADORABLE and I loved the long haired ponytail on her. Mary looked cute too, my cousin had a white pair of shades like Mary was sporting at the time. I would laugh at "lady pimp aint takin that trip if you aint got the cash to flow" or something like that

This song came out when I lived and worked in Minneapolis. We used to pump it at Record Town all the time. We'd all take turns with different verses, singing around the store.

"it's ladies night, WHAT?! It must be Ernest on the mic....." LOL We had a ton of fun with that.

Yall dont get it.

She meant she not just going to be some featured singer on the track..she wanted to rap a little bit too. Yall looking in too deeply.

I thought I made it clear that I didn't get it. Still don't make no sense cuz did she sing on this? She IS a featured guest. Don't make no damn sense anyway you slice this shit. lol

shrug Makes perfect sense to me...

So you think Patti Labelle is primarily known as a singer of hooks only? Okay. shrug

That's not what she said or implied at all. Notice the "or somebody." Patti LaBelle is a singer, so a guest appearance by her would probably involve something like singing a hook. Missy is a rapper and singer, so her guest appearances usually involve both singing and rapping. That is all.
