Great list! I love, love, love the ones in bold, but I thought they would fit in better with a list of the best bands of the 70s.
Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

i thought a-Ha were exiled to Siberia after Take On Me. they're still around?!?! eek

album number 10 comes out June 19th, they are big everywhere but here still, america has been exiled, they sound nothing like that "keyboard" pop band anymore, the keyboards were sold long ago=

the were really cool
I've seen posters of them "now on tour"

What do they sound like now?

Great groups which you added !

That Jamaican Funk has a strong legacy. So many great musicians from that area.

I dig most of Atlantic Starr's work with Sharon Bryant and some tracks with Barbara Weathers, like "Freak-A-Ristic", the Maurice White-produced song "Armed & Dangerous", and a few more.
From the moment that their "Secret Lovers" hit the charts bigtime, i listened less to their work after that. Imo, they really started to specialise themselves in the "quiet storm"-genre.
I once heard a late 80's show of them, and it was mainly a laidback set. Maybe 2 or 3 uptempo songs which were performed on that gig.

Some Pieces Of A Dream-albums from recent years i still would like to check one day. Their early stuff is great ! Cool Phillyjazz grooves.

And Rene & Angela ... wow, what a classic catalogue they have. I remember seeing their solid "I'll Be Good"-video for the first time and noticed their custom-made keyboards which they could move around.
I wish i could've visited one of their shows back then. Yesterday i browsed through youtube and listened again to "Wait Until Tonight" from their "Rise"-album. There's such a great drive in this track along with the vibrating synths at the intro :

Just Give 'em Whiskey!

Never really got into the entire album, but there were a few tracks I really loved: Whiskey, Say You, Manic were the main ones.

When Sharon Bryant left Atlantic Starr, she took the "pulse" with her IMO. I like Barbara, but the chemistry wasn't the same.
