Come on Harley I sure wouldn't call anything on Private Dancer "raunchy" lol Tina CAN still sing while Janet never really could regardless of subject matter.

Ok "raunchy" might be a lack of expression, it sure was damn sexually suggestive though, right? lol

And what about Mick Jagger & Lockjaws AKA Aerosmith? You can't tell these ol' limp ass mofos don't take it to the limits lol
[Edited 5/8/09 9:17am]

Alrighty, then. As for them with the ol' shriveled up willies, the difference is that they're singing songs they releaed 1000 years ago. I don't know anything about their recent releases, if they have any, but are they still sexually suggestive? I'm not saying Janet can't sing about sex at her age, but her subject matter and voice are quite limited and youngings don't wanna hear a woman old enough to be their mama singing about getting her coochie pounded. Just sayin' . . . lol

I guess we have an issue with it being so literal and explicit. A conservative streak on the org, who knew? lol

highfive Same thing with Prince. Nothing that he's released in the last 15-20 years can touch the nastiness that was Soft & Wet and Head from 30 years ago. He evolved in his subject matter and how he chooses to express it. Janet, not so much . . . shrug As for her career, she's simply NOT relevant to the hot mess that is popular music today and I'm glad for that. She needs to stop trying to be and do her thing on a smaller scale.

I am going to say yes, but then again, Kylie Minogue is still a huge star and she can't sing for shit. Well, huge star everywhere but in the US

She just needs to do something totally different and unexpected. How about a role in a Broadway musical? A sitcom? A rock album? Something that would rejuvenate her career and force people to take notice. After three albums in the same style (R&B music with sexy lyrics and whispery vocals),it's time for a major re-invention.

If she was a reliable touring act,she could easily go to Vegas and get one of those lucrative deals where she plays the same venue for several years.

I agree with you SoulAlive. She needs to switch up her game. If she does do music, she should do cameos in other people's songs. That worked for Mariah, I don't see why it wouldn't work for Janet, especially if the song is bangin.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

That's a great example and it was huge! It could happen again. I would love it to happen again for her.

The problem is that the artists that are as big today as Busta was then totally SUCK. The state of pop and R&B/hip hop music is truly disturbing and I wouldn't wanna see Janet stoop to do a song with T-Pain or Lil Wayne although she prolly already has. shake

Good point. The idea of her doing a song with T-Pain is enough to make me run to the bathroom. I don't wanna think of what he'll do to her voice with that autotune-vocoder thing. barf

eek I sure hope her career isn't over but it's kinda looking like that! She's gonna have to past the torch sooner or later...

Jermaine Dupree didn't help her career at all!
I am not sure what's wrong, but it's probably your fault!
