I know she does not get much love on here sometimes but Alicia Keys at the O2 (I think that was this February 2009).
Me and the missus have all her albums and As I Am has some great tracks on it. I was really looking forward to seeing her live. We had great seats, close to the front of the stage but something about the show just didn't work. It (or Alicia herself was just lacking a bit of spark). her voice was fine and she did talk to the audience a little. but it had no fire. We discussed it afterwards and wondererd if it was because in the first section she was doing the whole Beyonce-style, standing and singing with 2 dancers rather than sitting at a piano Stevie-style (which we probably would have preferred). Perhpas being something she is not (obviously the upbeat numbers like Teenage Love Affair etc were fun and a bit of animated Alicia was in order but still...). It was like her heart was not in it. Maybe she was feeling a bit under the weather. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

I saw him in concert in 2007 and maybe ten people showed up and the show was cool and all but not what I had expected. It had like an amateur vibe to it. I know kids on my block that can play better guitar than he did. His voice was on fire but the band and songs sucked. he only played from his A&V record and it could make like a great 8 track CD. So when he played like 30 songs from it that ain't good. But you know I'm still blown away by his records before 2003 and I saw some great concerts of his on youtube so he CAN do it, I just feel he's too lazy to do it. That's why I said he's got to get his act together on record and live. On another tip the coolest concert by an act I don't like has got to be 'Wild T & The Spirit' . Me and a friend of mine saw him in some club and he just kept playing the one awesome guitar solo after the other. The show started like at 11:30 PM and we left at 2:30 AM and the guy was still playing. Awesome night [Edited 5/1/09 10:15am]

Goldfrapp [October 2006] I haven't bothered to see them since. And I thought Supernature was an awesome album when I attended the show. They, however, have the worst, most catty fans (at least in NYC, and not counting sextonseven). Or maybe it was just that night. Everything sucked, Allison and her band sucked, their fans sucked. The venue was shit. I just didn't like anything about the experience. I hope it was just a bad night! I really want to see Goldfrapp live I hate to make excuses for Goldfrapp b/c if you're a great band like you claim you should be great a majority of the time. I guess I saw them when they were @ their shittiest state. It was their last U.S. show [or show in general] of their Supernature promotional tour. And they're "worn and tired" from touring the world. Ok, well, go out with a bang @ least for your fans! I think it was more than just a bad night. It's how their fans really are. Lots of ghetto gay people if you can imagine that. Ghetto gays. Ghettofied, pushing, name-calling. They were throwing things at Ratatat the opening act. I can find it somewhat humorous, I guess. Actually no I can't. But I swear when I was leaving the venue I was about to start fighting because some dudes were pushing everybody to get out the Roseland [the venue] because they couldn't stand how slow everyone was moving. I swear I was a minute away from just going at whoever that was in there. All of this left an incredibly bad impression. [Edited 5/1/09 11:27am]

Morris Day as a solo artist back in 1985. The only one of his songs that I remember him performing was "Oak Tree". I remember a lot of the show being him performing songs from The Time's album "Ice Cream Castles" but performing them as a solo act without The Time backing him. He even did the same moves as he did in "Purple Rain". Andy is a four letter word.

The Isley Brothers - 1980. Bunch of old dudes, pimp walkin' around the stage with fur coats, hats, and canes. The only one really playing any music was Ernest, but even his talent wasn't enough to carry the entire concert. Though in retrospect, I'm glad to have seen them on stage in their (post-60's) hey-day, when they were all still together as a group. But I swear, I couldn't see the point of ALL of them being on stage just profiling & boppin' their heads to the music.

Amy Winehouse - Hammersmith Apollo 2007
-She was a wreck, kept walking off stage, kept playing with her beehive whilst singing, drinking - loosing her balance. She sang 'Valarie' for her encore and it took me a minute to realise - she mumbled her way through it all -But that was expected, she was at the peak of her breakdown but I thought if anything happened to her, at least I could say I saw her live.

The System -
I've always loved thier music, thier sound, everything. I saw them when Don't disturb This Groove was a hit. You'd think by the third album Mic Murphy would have it together. He was so freakin high, he could not stand up on stage. They only performed two songs that were HORRIBLE. They cut it short due to his intoxcication. I was so dissapointed.

Dag that reminds me of a Isley show "Budweiser Super Fest" I saw @ Reunion Arena. I believe Between The Sheets was released that year.. O' Kelly or Rudolph walking the stage chanting "hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey,....." and the sound was terrible... that was the only show of theirs I attended and didn't like. I was lucky enough to see shows in the late 70's that were fantastic... just that one bad apple.

He was onstage for about ten minutes! When he left the stage, most people got up and left.
Still,I'm thrilled that I got to see him. He's a legend, you know. Saw him live at the Pori Jazz festival here in Finland. He did a song or two, then went backstage and said something like "Don't worry, I'll be back". He never came back. Nevertheless, like you said, it was nice seeing him live. He IS Sly Stone after all It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

prince's "aftershow" at the house of blues chicago. just awful! came on two hours late, wasnt on stage for half the show, when he was on stage he hit a couple keys on the keyboard while the band covered classic gems like "no diggity". finally he was played controversy at 5am...but we were already walking out. the one and only time i've booed prince. the venue even gave me a voucher good for tickets to any show i wanted to see in the future. yeah, the show was so bad even the venue copped to it. But the Best Concert By A Band/ Artist that I DON'T like was defintely Dave Matthews Band...He really annoys me, but the show was fun I was dragged to see them in concert a few years ago. I loathe the mere mention of Dave Matthews, as his music is a disgusting mixture of bland and the streaming shit that came out of his tour bus onto innocent passersby in Chicago. I was expecting to have a horrible time, but I had a much worse time than I had ever envisioned. Everyone on stage annoyed the hell out of me, but the audience did as well! I was in a sea of rhythmless dorky psuedo-intellectuals who all looked like they could use a good swirlie, and this coming from someone who was picked on! I'm not a big fan or anything, but I saw Sting when he toured with Annie Lennox. The show was the epitome of boring to me, as more effort seemed to be put into the video screens than the actual performance. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018!
