hip hop ruined black music foundation

what do you think.
like punk killed guitar solos and rock music was it the same for black music ?
before hip hop you had great rnb ,funk, gospel
soul acts that wheather you liked them or not they had talent.
while hip hop have great hip hopers at lest 80 % is filled with
ghetto thugs who dont have one ounce of talent.
50 cent is rapper ,c'mon. biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin
hip hop alowed a lot of mediocrites to record and bit by bit it ruinded black music.
whenever some new black artist is doing his soul
thing industry labels him as retro and old school while at the same time they hail unispired lame weak slow hip hop beats that go nowhere.

Punk didn't kill guitar solos and rock music. Lemme see - after punk there was hair metal (AAARRRGGHHH!) and Guns N Roses became the biggest band in the world ... complete with guitar solos. Punk made both unhip for a couple of years, but that was it.
There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

Jealousy and hate ruined black music. Most of it was perpetrated by record label heads.

Take your pick:

1. Clive Davis ruined black music foundation when he introduce the world to Whiney Houston!

2. Sean Combs (by using Mary J. Blige) ruined Black music foundation by putting hip-hop AND r&b together to create "hip-hop soul"!

3. Prince "accidentally" ruined Black music foundation by releasing the Around The World In A Day album!

OR

4. All American, German, & Japanese musical instrument factories ruined Black music foundation by inventing synthesizers AND drum machines (which are also at fault for nearly replacing live bands on a full-time basis).

I was born in South Bronx in NYC and any New Yorker who gre up in the boroughs can tell you that, more than any other genre of music, rap music is something you cannot escape in the Big Apple. for 18 or so years listened to nothing but rap music, I was immersed in it. I could tolerate particular songs of famous singers and songwriter's before like Bob Marley, or Michael Jackson or a Marvin Gaye but for the most part I didn't have a passion for any other Genre of Music besides rap music, and completely couldn't understand Rock or its sub-categories.

Then Something started to occur in me in the last 3 years or so. I've come to be completely disinterested in the rap world and and its redundant subject matter, WWF beef and unoriginal beats; you could say that after awhile I guess I just outgrew the immaturity of hip hop. In fact I'm actually starting to harbor some resentment towards rap music, and might even say that I hate it. Now I don't hate in the the traditional way that rock fans do, who generally don't consider it a legitimate art form or anything resembling music, I hate it for what I perceive it to be, which is generally a regressive art form that has put black music(and indeed music in general) back 40-50 years.

Everything that the innovators like The Beatles, James Brown, Wonder, etc did to bring the power of music to the artist is being turned around; now instead of thought provoking and creative albums its shitty one single-jingles sold to the masses(Crank dat and its many imitations), instead of musicians trying to make their own musical compositions and arrangements, they've grown lazy and allow the Dr. Dre's and Neptunes to tell them what to do and sound how they want them to sound, and instead of having real instruments mixed with beautiful production it's all digitized and artificial. Hell even music is just about money to these "artists" nowadays instead of making an artistic statement, or something folks can enjoy, they make stuff that will make money, and be hits on the charts. This isn't to say all rap is bad, but even the best lyricists and groups out there are beginning to bore me. I never thought I'd not enjoy a wu-tang album, and now I find myself snoring at their last effort.

I love lupe fiasco, but there is only so far you can go in lyricism, at some point I want more satisfying musicianship, I want exquisite compositions, I want wonderful chord progressions, dynamic instrument playing of the guitar, drums, keyboards etc. I WANT MORE. More than just a sample(if you can call it that) of a sped up soul chorus, I want more than a simple repition of 3 guitar notes(like the one on kris's dope beat). I want actual musicians again, actual people who are more unique in their vocals, songwriting and music, and not just in Delivery, Swagger or whatever else.

Anyone feel where I'm coming from?
Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

Why not blame RUN DMC & LL Cool J while you're at it! lol

OR WORSE..... blame Madonna! Her self-titled debut album received plenty of air time on black radio stations back in 1984. She even dissed Teena Marie by accusing her for letting Rick James control her image too often.

Rap is the most soul-less genre ever created, and thats my opinion, Till this day i find it hard to get into it and buy a rap album, I don't think i will do it..... eek

I love melodies, rap doesn't have this, its the same shit over and over again, all the songs are almost identical.

Hell yeah it absolutely ruined black music and it's working on ruining white music also. However, it may be black artists making the shit hop music but I still consider it white music because it's the white audience they are trying to sell it to and who are also the biggest consumers of it. Back before shit hop when most R&B was played mainly on black radio and most white people had no knowledge of these artists, it wasn't all slow, weak, and dull like it became after it got it's white audience. And these ain't even cool white people they are trying to sell it to. It's like they are trying to go back to the slow ass elevator music days.

stating that once record companies started marketing this it killed
