I wish Mariah would stop trying to act.

Gonna check out the movie anyway for Lee Daniels if nothing else. Even his misses are interesting so far.

I never got to see the whole movie glitter but the album
was very good despite the critics who linked the bad movie
to the album. The glitter album is certainly better than
her last two releases imo.

Glitter was nothing more than HONEY with a better soundtrack. It was a very similar premise, the acting sucked, the star was hot (jessica alba) but you always felt, why isnt this movie sexy?? i mean when you have Mariah or Jessica Alba as your lead, how the fuck do you not make it sexy?

If that is true....can the Org get a screening?

Say what you will about Madonna but did she ever make anything so notorious and big that it had people celebrating it's awfulness (and rapid fans defending it on it's music!). She's made a lot of bad movies but they almost get universally little to no attention anyway....and "Who's That Girl" was cute. razz

That being said, the article rasies a valid point (several times and yet it is only three short paragraphs). Why is the movie being pushed back? It happens for various reasons other than the movie being awful but it's basically a gossip and not an entertainment article. Skimpy on details (what were the prior release dates, who owns movie, what songs from the new album have been tanking, etc.) but heavy on cattiness. I'm not a Mariah fan, but seriously, why can't anyone do good entertainment stories anymore? It's all about the drama and bullshit.

Actually you probably have forgotten the movie Swept Away. That was hyped as Guy Ritchie's ode to his wife, and it was a disaster. In reality though, Madonna has been in a ton of movies. Most of her appearances were of a cameo or supporting role variety, but with the exception of Evita, most of the movies she has starred in have been really awful. But most of them were not actually her fault; it was usually a poorly written script, dumb storyline, or mismatched co-stars that tanked her films.

As for Mariah's latest movie, most of the mainstream entertainment media have forgotten that this is an indie film, and part of the reasons for indie films getting their release date pushed back is because they have trouble locating a decent distributor. Slumdog Millionaire had the same issue, and it took a long time after its debut at the Sundance Film Festival to find a distributor who would even book limited screenings. Fortunately, the critics loved the movie, and it slowly but surely built a lot of buzz on its way to winning an Oscar for Best Picture.

It wasn't. I actually enjoyed it to an extent

I honestly believe Tommy Mottola had something to do with it's failure

I remember at that time, there were rumors he stole some of her songs and gave them to Jennifer Lopez

remember how he and Sony were hyping up his wife Thalia, saying she was going to be huge? She released 1 song and that was that lol

The only real problem with 'Glitter' is the DJ guy who played her boyfriend. There was ZERO chemistry between these two disbelief She needed a better co-star.

She's got two new films out this year
"Tennessie" and "Prescious" (formally called Push)
I don't know much about Tennessie, but she play's a domestic abuse victim who persues her dream to be a singer (sound familier). It has th brilliant "Right to dream" http://www.youtube.com/wa...NrxL6dlWCM
in it.

As for 'Precious' It's apparently really good. It won both the critics and public choice award at the sundance fim fstival earlier this year. Mariah is a social worker in that one.

This is the film that Janet dropped out of, so with Mariah starring it, it will be just as bad....
