U2 - October
New Order - Republic

eek

I do like them to an extent, but I consider them the weakest of their albums overall. For me, it seemed that they didn't have enough strong material for October. And I could never really get into Republic, it seemed a big drop in quality after Technique, IMHO.

I beg to differ, Pandemoniumgets that honor.

Please do not mention BWOTD and Funkadelic in the same sentence again, it'll leave a bad taste in your mouth.

definitely agree!!! feeling ill

and some pick that over Castles disbelief

I find Ice Cream Castles frustrating, I love the itle Track, My Drawers and Jungle Love. I wish it had a Studio version of The Bird on it, I just don't think the live version sounds right on the album,Chilli Sauce isn't a proper song and is just a skit and If The Kid can't make you come is weak.

I agree! 'Ice Cream Castles' is a frustrating, inconsistent album. It sounds like it was written and recorded very quickly. The title track doesn't really 'fit' them and yes,I would have preferred a studio version of 'The Bird'.The one slow jam "If The Kid Can't Make You Come" isn't nearly as good as their previous ballads. It's more like a skit than a song.Same thing with "Chili Sau
ce".Morris and Jesse have both said that they didn't enjoy recording this album.Without Jam,Lewis and Monte,it just wasn't the same for them. They were just going through the motions.

I agree, the title track, My Drawers and Jungle Love are great. I don't mind the live version of The Bird, i think it has good energy. But 4 songs does not an album make. With so much material just laying around unused, why couldn't Prince put a proper album together?

The best songs on 'Ice Cream Castles' are "Jungle Love" and "My Drawers" but even these two songs can't compete with "777-9311","The Stick","I Don't Wanna Leave You","The Walk" and other jams from the first two albums.

I think they do! I love Ice Cream Castle, even the 2 "skit" type songs. I liked the skit schitt on Apollonia 6 too, haha.

My favorite from the "Ice Cream Castles" era wasn't even on the album. It was the B Side "Tricky".

A lot of people like to shit on this album but it's my favorite album from the 1984 Minneapolis era. I even like it much better than "Purple Rain". Sure Apollonia can't sing but the music on this album is so much better than "Purple Rain". Much more funk and a lot less rock.

Fuck it! lol Janet hit us with a double dose of worst albums
Discipline and 20 Y.O. can't hold a candle to her previous work!

Damita Jo was her last masterpiece!

Wow...I have to disagree with you on that one. Damita Jo wasn't a masterpiece. It was a clusterf**k. She was trying to adapt to what she thought was hip at the time, adding her horniness to the mix. The blatant oral sexual songs of "Moist" and "Warmth" made me ill. I actually enjoyed Discipline. I do believe it wasn't marketed well, and it would've done a lot better if different singles were selected. I will agree that 20 Y.O. was a huge disappointed. Wasn't a great way to celebrate 20 years in the music industry. Only one song was good from that album, "Do It 2 Me."

Different strokes, for different folks!!!!!
The Damita Jo album really has grown on me! The ideal modern day R&B album
Loves it!

I all honesty, I haven't listened to Victorialand in several years. Maybe my opinion will be different now.

The first two Xmal albums are excellent. They should have never have started singing in English towards the end of their career.

NPS is NOT a Prince album.

As for Madonna, you think Hard Candy is worse than American Life?

I think 'American Life' is a good album, but it's a little too dark and mellow for a Madonna album. There's not enough dance beats on that album.I always say that it would have been a huge hit if it had been recorded by Jewel or Sheryl Crow, since their fans expect that kind of music from them.

'Hard Candy' is exactly the type of music that I expect from Madonna. When she keeps her music focused strictly on the dancefloor,I'm usually satisfied, lol.

Do you blame him, really? If for nothing else buy "Blue Limousine," "Happy Birthday Mr. Christian", "Sex Shooter", "A Million Miles", and "Some Kind of Lover". All of these songs are KILLER. After all, these songs fit VainAndy more than the trax on PR.

I thought of this topic after seeing how much some of us despise Planet Earth. It's not that Planet Earth has bad songs, but as an album it sux.

I then started to think, well, what albums do you consider to be the worst by an artist. When I say that, I mean like of all of the albums an artist has released, what is their worst. It doesn't mean that the album is BAD, but of their library, it's not their best work.

Here's my list:
Prince - Planet EarthJanet Jackson - 20 Y.O.
Stevie Wonder - The Secret Journey Through The Life of Plants
India.Arie - Testimony Vol 2: Love and Politics
Madonna - American Life
Earth Wind and Fire - Electric Universe
George Michael - Songs From The Last Century
Babyface - Playlist
Michael Jackson - Invincible

The Whispers - Songbook

Ashanti - 'Concrete Rose'
Backstreet Boys - 'Unbreakable'
Erykah Badu - 'Worldwide Underground'
Mariah Carey - 'Charmbracelet'
Beyonce - 'B'Day' ; 'I Am Sasha Fierce'
Janet Jackson - 'Damita Jo'
Madonna - 'Hard Candy'
Monica - 'After The Storm'
Prince - 'Around The World In A Day' ; 'The Vault: Old Friends 4 Sale' ; 'Chaos
& Disorder'
TLC - '3D'

Thank God for the library and used CD outlets. After renting some of these (for free) and seeing how bad they were, I was able to save my money. The rest of them, ie Prince, Janet, and Mariah, I bought used only so that I could have their whole catalog.

Oddly I agree with some of your list, and I've edited it down to my agreements (some of the others I've not heard). Here are my additions:

Prince - Musicology
Prince - Graffiti Bridge ("Joy In Repetition" and "The Question of U" just doesn't save it for me)
Bobby Z - Bobby Z (sorry Bobby, but it's too "time restrictive" meaning you KNOW it's an early 90's album, because of the dated sound)
Marvin Gaye - Here, My Dear (although his music was awesome, and some of the lyrics on this album are raw, the music is lacking a bit compared to his catalog)
U2 - Achtung Baby (or anything after The Joshua Tree....let's keep it real)
TLC - 3D
KISS - The Elder
NPG - Goldnigga (bitch please, this is not music, this is a TRIP)
Wendy and Lisa - Girl Bros
Lenny Kravtiz - Baptism
Meatloaf - Bat Out Of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose
[Edited 4/16/09 14:54pm]

Oh I do agree that they are a drop in quality, but compare them to, say, Pop or Movement, do they really stand as the worst by those bands? I guess you think they do! But I have to say I disagree.

Two great bands, though.
