Stevie's worst song after I Just Called.... [Edited 4/10/09 1:07am]

It's one of the songs I hardly admit I like!
Stevie was much more involved than the credit claims. Stevie came up with the verses and stuff. I've got some outtakes of that sessions, were you can hear Macca and SW folling around.

[Edited 4/10/09 1:07am] Na, this song isn't bad. It isn't great but it isn't bad. Has a nice chorus, melody and Stevie's Afro lol [Edited 4/10/09 2:18am] Did Prince ever deny he had sex with his sister? I believe not. So there U have it..

Not one of my favorites by any stretch, but I can't say I dislike it.
It's also the inspiration behind one of my favorite ads: "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

This song isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Not one of his best, but it's one of those that's just you're almost expected to dismiss. As a kid, I loved it, because it's message made sense to me.

I don't hate it and the message is good, but it's not something that I care to listen to these days.

Would have been much more poignant if it had come out in the mid-late 60's... 'Love will be your Soldier' - Nikka Costa

Yeah. And I can't think of EVER hearing it on any radio recently (I listen to stuff like the 80s channel). Did not age well!

[Edited 4/10/09 1:07am] too sugary and sappy. I like the Eddie Murphy/Joe Piscopo version better. [Edited 4/10/09 11:52am]

[Edited 4/10/09 1:07am] Actually, Paul wrote the song. Paul came up with the chorus and intro completely, but the verses are a co-work between Macca and Steveland. I know this because I have many Paul bootlegs and am a fan. On wikipedia they claim Stevie didn't want his name to be in the credits. [Edited 4/10/09 12:31pm]

They always use that song as a joke I reckon.

While it's true that there's a solo version with Macca, the duet version is the original version. It was first released on the Tug Of War album and then as a single. The solo version was a b-side of the 12" or whatever.

It was released elsewhere but here in America, where it was released as a duet, with the solo on the "B" on the 12". I have the import version with just the solo version. I figured Paul did one first before he got Stevie on it, lol.

This also explains why the recorded their parts separately, Paul's part was already done. [Edited 4/11/09 14:17pm] "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"
