Prince/U2 fans Ok. I have been a fan of both for a while. This year I feel very pleased to be enjoying great new music by Prince and by U2. The only comparison I can make is that they seem to be on top of their game right now. Also, I know they will always be compared to their past. I can't post the Dreamer clip on Leno but here is the U2 performance on Letterman in case nobody saw it. I thought it was great. And my question is for the fans of both U2 and Prince. Which one are you currently enjoying more? I really like the new U2 but I think I love the new Prince (at least 1/3 of the new material)

Be warned.
There is a lot of dislike for U2 around these parts. Personally, I love U2. Right up there with Prince. I like both new releases equally and I'm not going to compare. Right now I'm digesting all the new Prince stuff. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

In my opinion U2 had a solid cd but Prince could have used an editor. But that is Prince I guess. I doubt that Prince is gonna chart as high and in as many countries as U2. Kind of a shame, but I guess Prince does not really need the money.

As an Irishman in extremely proud of U2. They are great ambassadors for Ireland.
Bono is a Prince fan and even dueted with him during an aftershow in Dublin on 30 March 1995 (The Cross).

Love to see/hear footage of that. I know back in the early 90s Prince kinda despised U2. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

..mzsexybaby Haha, What a genius move to name the band U2!! my girl says "i love you!" and I respond "I love you 2!" I've been saying "I love U2" in the formative years way before I first knew anything about this band! and "the Edge" - when the band was starting out and competing with other bands..everyone always says "we got -so-n-so on guitar!" U2 just responds "well we got the Edge!!" Yes, I love U2. I think they release cds that are consistently good. I think if you say you hate them you prolly never really listen to much beyond the singles/what you hear on radio. I also believe Bono is a very real person that is trying to change the world for the better. Overall they are quality but don't people hate you when you are #1? It's the loneliest number.

U2 is tied with Radiohead as my favorite band, so...
I think people who hate U2 don't give them a chance. They just hate U2 because of Bono, just like some people hate Prince because he changed his name.

As a huge Prince/U2 fan, this is a great year for me. As of now, I am enjoying Prince's records more. I had instant satisfaction with Lotusflower. There were songs that immediately stood out. With No Line on the Horizon, it grew on me. When I first heard it, I thought it wasn't that bad. After repeated listens, my appreciation grew.

Same here. Both of their releases are really different from their last few (U2 and Prince) with the material more inspired rather then written from just a product perpsective imo.

"Pop" and "Zooropa" are considered the throwaways by some but even they are not that bad. I would still like to see P work with Brian Eno.

I love U2, 2 bad the tix sold out fast and didn't get any 4 their world tour stop here in Chicago.in September. It would b great if they can tour 2gether! I'd love 2 c Prince per4m in stadiums rockin' with Bono! "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

I'm a fan of both, but I'm enjoying Prince more. I was really looking forward to the new U2 a lot more than Prince's album(s), but "No Line On The Horizon" was a bit of a let-down for me. I'm very happy with LF/MPLS

U2 are releasing another album before the end of 2009, along with original music from the Spider-Man musical.
So, 3 projects from them this year too.

'MPLSounds' and 'Lotus Flow3r' more than 'No Line on the Horizon.'
'Moment of Surrender' is getting attention though. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

He just took awhile to get over losing the best album Grammy to U2's 'Joshua Tree.' I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

i'm enjoying the U2 much, much, much more! i love it! i think its their best in years. not so into the new prince... An individualist is a man who lives for his own sake and by his own mind; he neither sacrifices himself to others nor sacrifices others to himself...

I just believe it's not the groundbreaking sound that it was originally hyped to be. It sounds like they will go ballistic experimental on the next album. IMO the MPLSound is more experimental. At least Prince is now using more protools and recording in different ways.

nice to see some love for U2
no other band gives me chills when i see them live (Prince does too) Pop is a great record I guess I kinda compare these 2 releases since both Prince and U2 could never be as good as they once were, but are still able to make decent music. i am more excited about Prince though - my only hope is he dumps LarryJehovahGrahamCracker and starts using bad language again i mean, what is so wrong with bad language? didn't Prince invent it?

An individualist is a man who lives for his own sake and by his own mind; he neither sacrifices himself to others nor sacrifices others to himself...

I like U2, but it took them 5 years to put out the New Album which isn't much of a depature from their previous album, which wasn't that much of a departure from the one before that.
I think both Prince albums are better albums than NO Line, but I do think that it's a decent album.

I am just in the door, listening to "Moment Of Surrender" a song that is quite possibly the best U2 have done in many yrs, it encompasses all the best of U2 in ONE song...
Remind you of anything been said here lately? PS No Line On The Horizon, is a good album, but abit repetitive within itself If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.
