Just discovered this cover of "Private Joy" I was browsing through some second hand vinyl today and I came across a copy of the "Weird Science" soundtrack.
I looked at the back cover & saw "Private Joy" listed. I thought, "Hmmm...I wonder if it's that Private Joy...as in the Prince song." Turns out, it was...and when I played it, I noticed that the arrangement sounded just like the original. This particular cover version is by an artist called Cheyne....never heard of her before in my life. But anyways, here's her interpretation....I think the guy who produced stuff for the pointer sisters back in the day gave her a hand with this track as well: By the way, I was gonna buy the record, but aside from the theme song performed by Oingo Boingo and of course this very song right here, I thought it sucked, so I didn't bother.

each to their own.
I didn't think it was all that bad..... then again, I never listened to it from beginning to end, so you all might be right on that one! Even if you are....ummm....I really don't care.

This was posted not to long ago. It's fun and pretty similar to LaToya's. I think Cheyne was the one that "Into the Groove" (or some other Madonna song) was written for but Madonna ended up singing it herself instead. Good idea!

I love it in a weird way!
It's a much slower version and you get to realise how crap other music is that doesn't have the Prince touch! Shut up already, damn.

Ouch! The production on this is pretty awful...sounds like a demo with scratch vocals. How this actually got pressed onto an LP is beyond me...Jeez I'm just sayin..

I remember Cheyne's "Call Me Mr. Telephone" used to get played on the radio here. I still have the 12". It was a big hit in clubs.

It sounds more like bad Karaoke than a cover.
