Justin T will take a break! Justin Timberlake Takes A Leave Of Absence?
Posted Tue Mar 31, 2009 11:30am PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr. in Hip-Hop Media Training Die-hard Justin Timberlake fans were upset last week when they heard that he was not planning to release a new album anytime soon. Why? He could use a break. The former Mousekeeter, N'Syncer and "SexyBack" singer told Entertainment Weekly that he wasn't exactly in the mood to make a new record. "Right now, I like the idea that things can just kind of pop up and if they feel right I can do them," he said. "Committing to my own sort of project, that's like, ‘Okay, let me black out two years of my life and do it.'" In the meantime, Justin is fine taking on al a carte music projects with the likes of Ciara and T.I. Otherwise, unless he gets a burning urge to record an album, he will keep himself busy with all of his other projects. He is producing an MTV show called The Phone which appears to be a reality thriller. The show will premiere on the music channel on April 21 at 10 p.m. J.T. has done well in his movie roles, Saturday Night Live skits, and award show hosting gigs. He should continue to follow his gut and explore his other interests. In the end, it will only make him a more, well-rounded artist. Why should he record an album if he is not in the mood? Why should he force out a project if he isn't in the right creative mindset? If he is not feeling passionate about making an album right now, but makes one anyway, it will feel contrived. There's no way it will live up to his last album, 2006's FutureSex/LoveSounds. Maybe he could talk to some of his friends in music who release albums every year or so just because they can. Clearly, some of them are also due for a break. And I'd put Beyonce at the top of that list. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Jay, you're quite harsh.
I like his singles and some of his co-works with others. For his own career it's a fault steppin' aside that long. A 4 years gap between albums? He suffers the Michael Jackson syndrom. I tell you folks, if you're a well etablished artist 2,5 years are best!!

There are certain people the orgers either heavily love or hate.
That's strange. I think we should give this guy a chance. I ain't a fan either, but I think he REALLY tries hard and what would YOU do?

I would listen to it too. He has good songs! But I think it's not smart not releasing new stuff. It's not that he's allready mega etablished. Imo, so far he's seen as someone who worked successfully with the Neptunes and Timbaland.

I like his side projects. Remember that song with T.I. that popped up about 2 months back, but didn't appear on any T.I. releases? It was like a duet. (Not "Dead And Gone"... it was some Youtube schitt).

Well,at least he knows when it's time to relax and take a break so that he doesn't become overexposed. It's too bad that Beyonce doesn't have that same mindset

It's not like he has a choice. Releasing another album with Timbaland wouldn't get the same reception anymore, so he has to find a brand new collaborator to make sure he can come back just as big as in 2006.

Well although I criticize JT at times, I actually liked both of his albums. There are a lot of things about him I dislike, but I enjoy his music. Maybe taking a break is best for him though. You don't want people to get tired of you (*cough* Beyonce *cough*). [Edited 4/1/09 22:30pm] "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ

He took a huge break between Justified and FutureSex and look how well FS did. This is a good idea, I just hope he really does stay away for a good 2-3 years.

Between J and FS was a 4 year gap, this means his next album will be out in 2010 if he wants to have the same gap again.

The break between Justified and FS felt longer because he really disappeared, like I thought he'd quit This time he's still releasing with other artists so it feels like he never left.

Well, that's right, the Shock Value stuff, 4 Minutes, Rehab etc.
Ah, the end of the day I don't care too much. I liked some of his songs but I dislike HIM, his dressing sense, his voice, his looks, his hairdo and why the hell did he grandmum say he would not be a dink?!

He's just taking a break from making albums; I doubt he will be away from the spotlight though. He has a successful fashion line; is managing and producing for other artists; has a TV show on MTV coming out later this month, and is supposedly in the process of making his own brand of tequila. Plus, I'm pretty sure he wants to do some acting. So, sorry to all those who dislike him, but dude ain't gonna be disappearing from the public eye anytime soon...he ain't that dumb; he's just not trying to be like Beyonce. She should really consider taking a break herself so that she can fully enjoy married life for a while.
He's said in several interviews about how once he starts an album, he dedicates a good 2 years of his life to making that album, then promoting and touring for it...can't deny that he has a consistent work ethic when it comes to what he puts his name on. As much as they're hated, Justin and Beyonce really don't have to make albums to make money because of all their side projects, and that's pretty smart when you look at the business end of things. The music industry isn't exactly pulling in the numbers that it once did, and some artists have come to realize that. In my opinion, they can do all the side projects they want as long as they continue to release good guality albums...make your paper while you're still popular. At the end of the day, money is really the main element that is being taken seriously. Everybody needs a break at some point so that they can truly be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
