I would be thrilled if we got a 4-CD box set but come on,this is Warners we're talking about lol They're not gonna be that generous and do it right. The best thing we can hope from them is a 2-CD compilation with two brand new songs.

Some fans are speculating that the "Sticky and Sweet" concert DVD may be included in this set (or maybe in a deluxe version of this set).I certainly wouldn't complain smile

I'd doubt that. She'd most likely put that on it's own. I could see a DVD of her videos being included. I still think that a 2 CD spanning her career would do a disservice to the fans and her catalog.

I agree. I would LOVE to see a singles boxed set. That would be extremely cool.

I won't buy it if it's only 2 discs and new tracks, unless the new tracks aren't released as singles.

Madonna deserves to have a set that includes all of her singles. We need to have "Gambler" on CD, and not on some "La Isla Bonita" maxi-single! She can't neglect singles that weren't huge hits but are enduring fan favorites like "Oh Father" and "Bad Girl"!

Open Your Heart
La Isla Bonita

It would have to be 3 discs. Maybe not in order. Maybe by theme/sound. Dance and ballads is the most obvious. Maybe dance, ballads and movies (she's had a lot of hits from movies...while the oscar winning songs aren't hits, why not put them on there).

Movies:
Crazy For You
Live To Tell (kind of...)
Who's That Girl
Causing A Commotion
Sooner Or Later
I'll Remember
You Must Love Me
Don't Cry For Me Argentina
Beautiful Stranger
Die Another Day

Not bad...will never happen, though.

There is no way they can put them all on 2 CD's. The other GH packages were pretty full and even they left off important songs. Not to mention we have 3 more albums to cover now. I think to be a true singles clooection, we're looking at 4 CD's at least.

That's my favorite....of course that gets included. Yeah, her movie songs are an impressive list, although the balance of ballads and dance wouldn't work since many of the big ballads of Madonna were from movies and she is mostly known for the dance/upbeat stuff.

makes me wonder if it is a two disc set; if they'll do a ballads disc and a dance disc.

Glenn Close 'confesses' all about Madonna

American actress Glenn Close is interviewed in the latest issue of In Style magazine and says this about Madonna:
'I admire Madonna, she has so much energy and its very inspiring to watch someone like that, I have her Confessions album playing a lot in my dressing room, you know, singing and rolling my arms to Hung Up gets me in the mood to go shout at people as Patty Hewes *laughs*'

Madonna 'to close Finnish sea' for concert

Madonna has applied to close the seas around Helsinki, Finland so she can commandeer a small island to stage a gig for 80,000 people, according to reports.
The Holiday hitmaker is taking her Sticky & Sweet world tour to Jatkasaari, Helsinki in August.
And she has applied to officials to close the sea and airspace over the area to prevent ticketless fans from enjoying the spectacle for free, reports Britain's Daily Star Sunday.
A source tells the publication, 'Madonna couldn't find a stadium in Finland big enough for all her fans so instead she's taking over an island.'
'But to stop people watching from the water on boats, she and the promoters have applied to close the sea. She's also worried people will hire helicopters to watch from the sky so she wants to close the airspace over the site as well.'
But locals are not happy with the request and are worried about the effect the concert will have within the community.

Only Madonna could get away with that. She even caused drama in San Diego when Petco Park was refusing to allow the catwalk onto the field. They relented when Madonna said fine she'd just cancel and they'd have to deal with the angry fans.

that's right. but I can understand Madonna for not releasing demos and outtakes. they mainly have a reason for not having been released. And although us fans get nuts everytime a new outtake is gonna leak, if we're honest all her outtakes deserve that status. When Dear Father leaked it was nice, but at the end of the day I could have lived without it, it didn't inspire me or my lifestyle as Madonna might say.

Ultimately Warners will have to do something that will please the harcore fans, but will also want to exploit her catalogue to the casual listener.

I think if shes recording "a few" new songs we can expect to get GHV3. This will be what Madonna will want to do, and as shes not got enough post Music material for a full GH, a few new songs should flesh it out:

1. Die Another Day
2. American Life
3. Hollywood
4. Love Profusion
5. Nothing fails
6. Mother & Father
7. Hung Up
8. Sorry (Confessions tour mix)
9. Get Together
10. Jump (Extended Version)
11. 4 Minutes
12. Give it 2 Me
13. Miles Away
14. Beat Goes On
15. New track
16. New track
17. New Track

I think the next thing we will see (in the next few years) is a career retrospective over 2 cds that will appeal directly to the casual listener. I think at the same time Warners could release an expanded / deulxe version over 4-5 discs including alternate versions / unreleased songs / remixes / live recordings / b-sides that would appeal to the hardcore fan.

Warners has many opportunities to exploit her catalogue, and given the good terms they parted on -im sure she will cooperate in allowing them to.

Its 20 years since Like A Prayer. I for one was hoping we'd get a remastered version of this. This album had some brilliant remixes, there are a few unreleased tracks in the vaults, and given the live nature of the recording, alternate versions / demos must exist.

After the half hearted remasters of her first three records, i at least hoped they'd get their treatment of this landmark album of hers right. There's more than enough material to fill a 2 disc set.

Like A Prayer (12" Mix)
Like A Prayer (Dance mix)
Express Yourself (local Mix)
Supernatural
Keep It Together (12" Mix)
Keep It Together (shep Pettibone remix)
First is A Kiss (unreleased)
Love Attack (unreleased)
Just A Dream (madonnas version)
Possesive Love (madonnas Version)

Sadly it looks like nothing will happen though.

Not really excited about the greatest hits, guess it's slow news months for Madonna so fans are enjoying to write their own tracklists etc. Hope the new tracks will be decent, unfortunately I'm never really a big fan of her "new tracks on compilations", hope she proves me wrong...

The Beast Within is a remix and did not appear on The Immaculate Collection.

"Justify My Love" is great, but it's the exception, I was more thinking among the lines of "Spotlight", "Rescue Me" or "One More Chance".

I don't think it's over the top.

A) It's Madonna

B) She has many singles

C) This is it for WB (probably) I'd think they'd want to milk this package for all it's worth. All of the fans know that the GH packages (esp the last one) are LACKING

D) I have seen this type of thing done before...Right now George Michael Comes to mind. Also Have you seen the craziness ofDepeche Modes new offering? I think it's being offered in 4 different ways and that just for an album

E) I'd like to think Madonna will care about this project and her fans enough to put some care into her final product from WB

F) I think her fans will definitly squawk if it looks like it's either GHV3 or TIC+GHV2 and the latest singles. I recall how frustrated P fans were with that Ultimate Hits package we all bought.

I can't imagine they won't release a multi disc set that features older songs plus these since her last hits disc:

-American Life
-Hung Up
-Sorry
-4 Minutes

And "Sorry" and "American Life" might not even make the cut. We'll have to wait and see but I can't imagine how depressing GHV3....
