Estelle live!

Went to see her last night at Club 9:30 in DC.
She was pretty awesome.

Chick is funny as hell!
Her album, though excellent, does NO CREDIT to her voice, which is actually very powerful live. I was very surprised by that.

She also not as skinny as in the videos and prettier in person.

It was GA and we were RIGHT up there, but I'm getting too old for all that shovin and standing and shit.

Coulda done without her opening act...Ryan Leslie.

She puts on an excellent performance. If you get the chance and like her at all you should catch her live.

So are you saying Ryan Leslie sucked live? If so, please explain. I haven't caught his live show yet. Did he perform to tracks or did he have a band?

No, I'm not saying he sucked. I'm just not personally into him.
I like 2 songs, that "Addiction" song and "The Way it Was Supposed to Be" (I think it's called) which is better on record IMO. He had a band, but the backing vocals were tracked (especially since he seemed to be backing himself lol). He has a lot of energy on stage and the folk into him really seemed to dig him.

Oh, being a Prince fan, I did have issue with his falsetto tho.
I feel like if you can't really understand the words then don't do it live. But again, that's more a personal taste thing and I've been spoiled by Prince's falsetto.

Oh darn. I had wanted to check out Estelle here in DC, but I lost track of the date. I hope she comes around in the future.
