It's a cool tune alright fro
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Nope .. Soulful Strut is the original release from '68, while Acklin's vocal version was released in '69. Though it's debatable which version was recorded first. biggrin

Yeah, it's even the same music, same recording. Barbara claimed that she recorded it first, and her vocals were then replaced with the piano. But there are some people who dispute that, and the fact that the song was released as an instrumental a year before the vocal version makes you wonder.

That's how I read it: that Barbara recorded it first but they couldn't afford to release it so they released the instrumental and when that became a hit, they put out Barbara's song afterwards (in '69).
