Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers - Tomorrow People

YEAH!!!

We're travellin on a Ziggy, Ziggy bridge tonight. cool

I still remember when this came out back in 1988, it was a huge hit for the eldest Marley son and his brothers & sisters.

Check out the video:

SPIRITUAL, CONSCIOUS MUSIC...

Lifted from the CLASSIC "Conscious Party" album, also from 1988.

He's definitely come into his own as an artist over the last few years of his career.

I've always dug his cover of pops 'Could You Be Loved'.

Here's a cool cover of 'Natural Mystic' w/a horn section.

The first time I saw/heard that cover of "Natural Mystic" I thought he sounded uncannily like his Daddy, Tuff Gong. I don't feel so much like that now though.

tomorrow people was a great song but i think ziggy has not had that much impact. perhaps the pressure of fitting into the legends shoes.

I thought that for a second or two back in the late 80's...but was shocked back into reality hearing some of Ziggy's vocals, of Bob's songs. Ziggy is bad in his on way no doubt.

I like this live version of Bob's 'Natural Mystic', From the "Uprising Tour" in Dortmund.

Nah, I think it's just the record labels not promoting him enough.

He's been asked questions like that so many times during interviews, "You're in your father's shadow," "was it inevitable that you would do music cuz of your father?"

I'm surprised he hasn't gone all balistics on the journalists.

Anyways he always tells them that music has always been a part of the Marley family, and that it's been that way for years. It just comes natural to them.

Oh definitely.

What I've noticed is that not only do they cover his songs, they also refer to his lyrics quite a lot.

For example, there's a song Ziggy did on his first solo album "Dragonfly" called "Melancholy Mood" where he says, "Everything in life got its purpose, find its reason in every season," which is a quote from "Forever Lovin' Jah" off the "Uprising" album.

Also, Stephen Marley has a song on his "Mind Control" album called "Got Music" where he responds to his father's comments in Curtis Mayfield's cover of "Keep On Moving." Bob says "Tell Ziggy I'm fine and to keep Cedella in line." Steve says, "Sharon and Cedella doin' fine, Ziggy's keepin' everything in line."

Those are only 2 examples though, there's more than that! lol
