a very patchy random list... not feeling it at all... I own just a handful of albums

As soon as I read your comment I lost interest in the list.

Dancelot, I would way rather read YOUR list of 75 albums one must own.

I actually HAVE a list by paligap that I printed off and refer to every now and then. lol

I can't say it's straightout bad, I have approximately 15 to 20 albums myself. but still I wouldn't tag let's say Combat Rock as essential owning. and while it's nice and refreshing to see someone like Slick Rick make that list, they simply can't leave out someone likePublic Ennemy. so yes, a patchy and VERY individual list it is... smile

first let's include a fair number of the usual suspects to give the list some credibility (Rubber Soul, Pet Sounds, What's Going On, SITKOL, Velvet Underground, Led Zeppelin etc.) then throw in a few more "surprising" off-track choices for well known classic artists that make people say "yeah nice, still I would have picked that OTHER album". then add some really strange choices for records that may be of personal importance to the author, but are in now way essential on a global scale. still the author probably waited years until he could give his favourite child memories some prominent exposure. and finally let's also include two Classical albums, I may not know much about Classical music and own probably only those two records but on the list they go.

and pivotal artists like EWF, Aretha, P-Funk, Duke Ellington etc. never made an album that deserves to be in the Top 75? include Classical music but leave out Mozart? I can't swallow that. of course such lists are ALWAYS subjective, but this one more than others it appears to me.

oh, and I want that paligap list! seriously! I want to count how much I already own... and then order the rest! lol

Meh, I think Mozart's a bit overrated myself.

It's not a bad list though, though I own a good portion of it. It would impress me a lil bit if I was checking out someone's collection and they had some of this stuff.

They were pretty serious about that Publix album though. That band must be really good if it kept popping up every couple albums. lol

I own about 12 or so of these...In fact, that's a lot more than I expected!

What's worse is that there are a few of them that I KNOW are classics but which I have NEVER heard...should put that right really....
This is not an exit

I've got:

The Stone Roses
Lust for Life
Ziggy Stardust
What's Going On
The Cars
The Velvet Underground and Nico
Appetite for Destruction
Combat Rock
Marquee Moon
Exile in Guyville
Songs in the Key of Life

The list is constructed with a clear bias toward the "man's man". Not really my cup of tea, but it's hard to deny that many of these are great albums.

I tried typing out something character for character and didn't get ANY hits. I tried smaller parts, like, just an artist or album but I only got hits for other threads discussing them.

Don't believe the hype. Darkness is Springsteen's hardest-rockin' album, but its lyrics were written by a 28-year-old. The Boss' best record is:
