TMZ has learned Coolio has just been arrested at LAX for possession of crack cocaine.

We're told the rapper was going through a security screening to get to his Southwest Airlines flight when a screener found crack cocaine on his person.

Sources close to the situation tell us Coolio -- real name Artis Leon Ivey, Jr -- got physical with the screener at some point during the incident.

Coolio is being booked by LAX police right now.

This is not the first time he's had a run in with the law either.

I remember back in 1997, he got arrested for stealing clothes from a sports store. Also, he apparently told folks, "If you can't afford my album, steal it."

It was at that point that I very slowly began losing interest in him before finally dubbing him Foolio.

Tabloid reports have claimed that Coolio recently took three girls back to a hotel in Sheffield for a late night party.

The American rapper, 45, kept guests at the Hilton awake with his "blaring" music, reports The Sun. The father-of-six has not commented on the claims.

One female was apparently spotted leaving the building at 5am.

"There was moaning and screaming going on," said one guest. "They obviously had a good time."

A member of the Celebrity Big Brother star's entourage commented: "It's always like that."

It's all coming back to me now, this guy's been a crackhead for years. Even before folks knew his name. On his first album there's a lyric that says "took one hit of the crack and was hooked." Then later on there's a whole song called "N The Closet" which samples Paul McCartney's "Let 'Em In" where he talks all about being an addict. On his third album "My Soul" there's a hip hop version of The Dramatics' song "The Devil Is Dope," which is yet another anti drugs song, but obviously he was still hooked. I even remember hearing something about how his brother threatened to shoot him if he didn't kick his crack habit. That supposedly made him clean straight away. Yeah, right.

I used Coolio in the eraly days, his first album was dope, his second was mediocre and his 3rd was unlistenable. Songs like Mama I'm love with a gangsta and Can of Corn along with it takes a Motherfucking thief were real.
