So we preach and bitch about changing the landscape of the industry and the mainstream and yet....

And yet we have 8+ threads on Chris Brown and Rihanna, which have no musical content? So is the mainstream media and music a reflection of us? I mean its not even like we are talking about them musically? Its pretty scary that the most threads and hits are coming from MJ (who will most likely not record for a long time and hasnt done anything musically in quite awhile) and Chris Brown and Rihanna's abuse case.

MJ = new stuff post ...July 2009

Well yes, if Prince an artist from 1979 and MJ and artist from 1970 odd and Madonna an "artist-off some sort" command the Music media in 2009 ....you have to ask why....

And if it's not them then it's Stevie , Rolling Stones, Bowie or Sir Paul...

Look here Tina is 69 and she's selling out the o2 and giving her younger artist a run for there money....

I think this says alot about the current music industry ....it has no Content ..in some ways Rihanna will be a bigger "star" because she got beat up by Chris and in someways he's broken her into the big time ...she is more house hold name because of this ...and if Chris stays with her it will boost his career as well.... lol lol

That's why CD sell's are dead .... when the music is what you can make in your bedroom and the video's don't show any creative art....

I know i'll get the haters on me but ....Thanks God for Kanye West he's trying something... wink
Da, Da, Da....Emancipation....Free..don't think I ain't..! London 21 Nights...Clap your hands...you know the rest..
James Brown & Michael Jackson RIP, your music still lives with us!

I don't see the correlation because of the way you've framed your observation. I haven't been here long but something tells me when Mr. Jackson was on trial for sexual molestation, org members shared their opinion's about it. The events that have concerned Mr. Jackson and concern Mr. Brown and Ms. Fenty are heady topics; this isn't a case of gossiping or discussing the trivial. Unfortunately it appears far to many times our society only seems to want to discuss these topics for 15 minutes when the rich, infamous, and the untalented are involved and then go back to business as usual or when the news cycle moves us on to more mundane topics. That's what's scary to me. confused

Amen to that highfive He is one of the best live artists from post 2000. I remember seeing him in Minneapolis when he dropped his first album and I knew he was going to be here to stay. His per4mance of Jesus Walks with real musicians and a chior drove the crowd nuts!
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

People are actually discussing domestic violence and how it affects relationships... doesn't matter which celebs made it a topic.

Here's how you resolve it, your Rihanna, get up and leave, dont get married, dont take him back, testify and put his wannabe jackson ass in jail, case closed. Its not like Rihanna is some female living in harlem and in dire straits for cash and has to stay with the man because of such and such, shes got bank, she'll find another man in a second, shes got no kids, time to go.

Lets start some threads on how James Brown used to kick the shit out of women and Rick James did too, if we are that concerned about Domestic Violence despite the performer. I feel that if we all dug Chris Brown like we do James Brown, we'd somehow find the forgiveness in these actions.

Maybe the org mods should make it a requirement that if you put a threat about a non-Prince music artist in the forum of the same name, then you should be required to actually talk about their music (other threads would go to general discussion.) HINT, HINT, HINT!!!

I was trying to get the mods to move the entire thing to General Discussion. Instead they made it a "music sticky". lol

Right, but what if it was only okay to about music in the non-Prince music forum? Maybe we have to be the ones willing to push for this, if we want entertainment and gossip to stop being associated with music and music artists.

That's sorta a contradiction in terms don't you think? Probably the best thing to do it ignore those threads that don't interest you. I'm just sayin. smile
