I used to love Ray Parker, Jr. But I knew the day he released "Ghostbuster's" it would be a career killer (even though he probably made a ton of money on it, and is probably the song many people remember him for - kinda like so many ONLY remember Rick James for "Super Freak"). Ray doing "Ghostbuster's" just played him out to be too goofy, when he was way-cooler and funkier than that (...kinda like when Hammer did "The Adams Family").

Nevertheless, I remember when "A Woman Needs Love" came out, all the "talk" was about how the watch he was wearing on this cover cost $50,000.00+. I miss the days when Ray Parker, Jr and Raydio were part of the media landscape. neutral

My favorite album by Ray is "Two Places at The Same Time", and between that one and this one, they are two very hard CD's to find (...aside from the Imports that the Japanese seem to always be on top of, for about $34 respectively - thank God I still have my original vinyl versions). These are two albums I would love to see digitally remastered from the original master tapes.

All of his CD's have just been reissued in Japan. You don't have to pay $35 for each. You just have to know where to go. You can find really good deals on Japan CDs on Ebay with certain sellers. They are also less expensive on cdjapan.com.

That's the one. And you need to check out my favorite cut from that album, "Still In The Groove".

...and both cuts, from both albums, sounded suspiciously like "One Nation Under A Groove" (complete with "Aqua Boogie"'s menacing bird, lol). Apparently, Ray was fond of songs with the word "Groove" in them, or else suspected that George Clinton's "Groove" was the wave of the future (which in many ways it was - at least he didn't straight out sample it), as he seemed to be trying to ride it for all it was worth.
