Wow this is a new day cause in the past I would have seen this as competition too. Maybe I'm turning a new leaf with Michael Jackson. Lets see if I stay like this with MJ tomorrow. I'll see how I feel about an hour from now. This is a true test of my feelings. I was excited for the MSG shows. And then I saw the MSG shows. I think I'm more excited that other people are excited, folks who've never seen him in particular. Not the ones who follow him around for his every outing. But for me now, it doesn't feel the same. I'm coming from a place of being a former diehard fan and I'm like you, I'm happy for the fans that are going to go. As long as they don't compare MJ to Prince in it all, I'm good. Downright affordable! but does anyone think he will sing live? "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

I secured my seat for the opening night of 8th July! (Not that I'll be sitting).
I am a consultant, and as part of the work I'm doing for an Airline, I have the offer of their corporate box at the O2....as long as its not booked. So I just checked, and no one has the 8th booked, so I took the slot. Think I might book the 9th too. Just come off the phone. Confirmed! The normal tickets go on sale Friday 13th at 7am. .

Why the big screen outside, were they expecting a huge overflow crowd?! It's past time to dump those sunglasses, the chevrons (stripes), and the armband. [Edited 3/5/09 12:42pm] Well, let me remind you. i've seen Prince far more times than MJ, but for me, Michael moves me more, always has. Don't know what it is. Sure Prince is a better musician in the true sense of the word, Maybe it's MJ's longevity and he's been around forever, maybe it's just the fact that i'm up for anything he does that's 'new' over Prince's new stuff, or maybe he doesn't give a toss about leaked material like Prince does. Maybe it's actually Prince's fans that don't like MJ and are bitter about the attention MJ brings (that make me lower Prince). Maybe not though. Prince can't even take a funny photoshop, yet MJ puts up with the most horrendous shit from every direction imagineable, he's a trooper (never whinges), Prince seems like a pussy in comparison, can't even take a joke. Seems like he's a humourless man at times. Much as i love his music and how he performs, He openly act like a dick. I work with people that act like dicks at times, and i dislike them intensely. Whatever it may be, MJ is just a more important historical musical figure than Prince, always will be, simple as that. I'm talking to people and they're saying he could barely get out of his vans because about 100 fans had surrounded it Michael was smart about doing this in the U.K. There are enough MJ wackjobs out there to fill up a small town so it's going to make the shows in July that much more eventful. I'm sure half of them are going to be dressed up at MJ in one way shape or form and I will be laughing at each and every one of them. I was already cracking up at the crazy big guy in the front row of the 'one sentence conference'. Dude looked like he was gonna sob, shit his pants and come all at the same time.

Downright affordable! but does anyone think he will sing live? Not a chance in freakin' hell. I seriously don't think any shows will even happen. Just curious; I've heard people say that he does play instruments in the studio, but has he ever played them live? I don't recall ever seeing pictures of him playing anything but his crotch.

I didn't have his posters but if MJ was involved, I would literally stop what I was doing to hear about or see what was up. When my Mom got me the Bad album, I stared at the album for a good 10-15 minutes before I played it. It was a month after it came out and she surprised me with it and it was like I had won the lottery. I treated that album like it was a fine piece of crystal. Then when I was done drooling over it, I played it like 3 times on my record player that night. I was happier than a pig in shit! To be 8 years old again. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I will just say that when I was a diehard MJ fan and hung out on the boards and with friends and such not only were they nasty about Prince but they had a very narrow view of his music. They couldn't or wouldn't give the man credit when it was due so I feel the opposite about Prince's fans being bitter. Maybe some are but it hasn't been my experience. And I've always enjoyed the fact that Prince is not a huge figure with mass appeal. But I don't understand why people can't like both without it being a versus thing.
