Here's something that resonates for me: There are people from all parts of the world who are planning to go. I'm talking about people from Iran, South Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia....you name it. They are going to be there.....

I'm listening to BBC 1xtra and they're saying that it was sooooo crazy that the roof of the o2 could've been blown off lol

the positive:

hes happy, better state of mind and of course, hes doing something new

the negative:

awful conference, no new news, few words. he's still as cheesy as ever, looked as if he was trying to get down with the kids by trying to act cool. what was with that alan partridge/cliff richard walk form the coach? his exit was cringe worthy, expecting history tour 2 with all those fist pounds. i didn't think it was about money until now. no new songs mentioned and he looked very thin.

You didn't think it was about money? He owes so much money to lawyers, accountants & others, why do you think he's auctioning off all that crap?

This tour is simply o maki money. if he'd love performing as much as he says or many think he would do more shows.
Madonna likes making money but I think she loves performing. MJ doesn't.

I have to agree with all of this.

Hopefully I´ll get to see one of the shows. I am afraid the tickets will be sold out soon and I won´t be able to order them on Friday.

And Mike please throw those awful sunglasses away once for all. And the hair...

Ticket prices are normal. Spice Girls sold out 17 shows with more or less the same prices and Prince did 21 nights with half. They couldn't have announced 10 dates with Madonna prices (£175)...

The Ultimate Michael Jackson Setlist - What Would Yours Be?
For his summer shows...

* by Jason Gregory

Unless he has a dramatic change of heart – or, recent reports have been widely inaccurate – Michael Jackson will announce a series of concerts at the O2 Arena in London tomorrow (March 5th).

The shows, which look set to emulate Prince's 2007 residency at the same venue (not to mention bag the King of Pop a nice pay day), will, undoubtedly, be some of the most anticipated of all time. Apart from two rather contrived live performances, Jackson has not performed a full live concert tour since his 1996/7 HIStory tour.

To put that jaunt into perspective, HIStory saw Jackson play in 82 countries to approximately 4.5million fans. And at a time when ticket prices were lower, the tour still grossed Jackson an impressive $163.5million – a figure which, if reports are to be believed, will only be surpassed by his summer O2 residency.

Suffice to say, the Gigwise office is rather excited about this. Putting aside the singer's legal troubles and various physical transformations, Jackson is still the artist who gave us the biggest – and, in my opinion, one of the greatest – albums of all time in 'Thriller; he's still the greatest male solo performer of all time – some who made the live show an unforgettable experience, rather than a chore; and, at the end of the day, he's still Michael Jackson.

So the big question remains, what will the Michael Jackson of 2009 perform?

We want you to post what songs you would like to see Michael Jackson play at the O2 Arena. Indeed, what would your ultimate Michael Jackson setlist be? Put your suggestion below.

Here's ours...(we'd like him to be on for a long time):

Setlist

'Jam'
'Beat It'
'Scream'
'The Way You Make Me Feel'
'Human Nature'
'They Don't Care About Us'
'Who Is It'
'Earth Song'
'Thriller'
'Billie Jean'
'Rock With You'
'Black Or White'
'You Rock My World'
'Wanna Be Startin' Something'
'Man In The Mirror'
'You Are Not Alone'
'Heal The World'
'The Girl Is Mine' (With guest appearance from Sir Paul McCartney)
'Don't Stop Till You Get Enough'

*Jackson 5 Reprise*

'ABC'
'I Want You Back'
'Blame It On The Boogie'

*Encore*

'Dirty Diana'
'Smooth Criminal'
'Bad'

Thats an awful list. Too many songs from Thriller and Post-Thriller that IMO are too cheesy, corny and plastic. Most of those songs are more about shouting than singing. The only people that will benefit from such a song list are the hard-core fans, who think History and Dangerous are his best albums.

For it to be a memorable show Michael should go vintage, and when I say vintage I don't mean Dangerous or Bad, I mean the Jacksons/Jackson 5 eras should feature heavily on the set, and if that means having to have his brothers on stage with him to sing songs like: Shake Your Body Down and Let Me Show You The Way to Go, then so be it.

Most of his adult solo stuff, especially post Thriller, caters mainly to his hard-core fans. But you go to any club and put on Let Me Show You the Way To Go or Don't Blame It on the Boggie, all kinds of fans, including ex-fans, casual fans and hard-core fans will dance.

Now obviously because it is a Michael Jackson concert, he needs to have his solo stuff on board. But why can't that solo stuff include songs from his Motown days like: Music & Me and I Wannabe Where you are as well as stuff like Billie Jean and Smooth Criminal?

He's loves his UK fans....

Um, excuse me? I did not try to put him in jail. TOM SNEDDON tried to put him in jail. Please dont judge all of America by the actions of one crazy man. I'm sure Michael doesnt feel that the whole USA hates him/is out to get him. We may not be as crazy and hardcore like the overseas fans, but he still has a solid fanbase here in America and I think it would be an insult to his American fans if he did not have a few final performances here. Times have been harsh here in America for the past couple of years economy wise, and most of his fans dont have $1500-$2000 to spend to go all the way to London to see him perform. eek

BBC website:

The concert promoter AEG told the BBC that Jackson may take the show on a final tour around the world.

AEG's global head Randy Phillips told the BBC that Jackson had signed a three-year deal - worth $400m - that included concerts and the development of the 3-D movie based on Thriller.

He said the pop star had undergone an "extensive medical" approved by insurers.

There's no chance for a new album. They are gonna check with the London shows if it's worth to tour his nostalgia act around the world, it's obvious he can't be bothered to do new stuff and the promoter wants to cash in on trying to remind everyone of his heyday.

Auctioneers deny Michael Jackson sale unauthorized
Thu Mar 5, 2009 2:30pm EST
By Jill Serjeant

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The auctioneers behind a huge April sale of Michael Jackson items, including the gates of the singer's Neverland Ranch in California, on Thursday denied claims it did not have permission to sell them.

Jackson's production company MJJ Productions filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on Wednesday claiming that Julien's Auction House had "effectively stolen Michael Jackson's personal property" and refused to return it.

The news came as the reclusive pop star appeared in London and announced a series of comeback concerts in the British capital in July.

The five-day auction, set for April 21-25 in Beverly Hills, was to feature some 2,000 Jackson items and was expected to fetch up to $3 million.

"The lawsuit came as a total shock to us," auctioneer Darren Julien said on Thursday. "We have worked very closely with Michael Jackson over the last eight months and his manager Dr Tohme, and Dr Tohme has approved everything that we have done."

"They approached us and we have totally cooperated with them as we do with all our clients. If they did not want these items auctioned, why have an auction house come to see them?" he added.

Auction catalogs and pictures of the items for sale, which also include a signature Jackson single white crystal-laden glove, had been shared with, and approved by, Jackson and Tohme before being printed in February, Julien said.

The lawsuit said some of the items had "extraordinary sentimental value" and that Julien's had refused to return them.

Julien, whose company has worked in the past with stars like Cher and Barbra Streisand, said his company had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars preparing the Jackson auction, which was to have been preceded by an exhibit in Beverly Hills. It was unclear if the auction will proceed.

Jackson, 50, once one of the world's biggest pop stars, has been a virtual recluse since his acquittal in 2005 on criminal charges of molesting a young boy.

Agreed. 3D Thriller? WTF?! we had Captain EO if you're old enough to have gone, i know 3D is about to come on leaps and bounds with James Camerons 'Avatar', but i don't need Mike dancing in my lap, no, NO! really i don't!

But today was kinda exciting right enough, his chin is different as far as i could see. Less a cleft more a groove! lol
