cody chestnut MIA tricky (i gave massive attack a try and was very disappointed and underwhelmed; same with Bjork; at least with Vespertine) also want to rediscover: ben harper dionne farris (didn't she put something else out since her debut) i feel too overwhelmed and don't know where to start Start with Van Hunt, MIA, and Ben Harper! They are all terrific ...don't bother with Goapele, she is completely underwhelming, and Leela James is grossly overrated in my book If you will, so will I

Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn did an album togeter before they both died. I am interested in checking that out. And please don't pee on me when you listen to these artists. Don't laugh at my funk

Dusty Springfield. I've had Dusty in Memphis for forever and I've liked it more with each listen--easily my favorite album from 1969. I recently listened to snippets of tracks from her other 60s albums and I think I want them ALL.

OH MAN, let's see...
1960s Perfect Pop :: The Mamas & The Papas, The Lovin Spoonful, The Vogues, etc. Right now, I do wanna explore more 1960s Perfect Pop. I saw a great youtube doc on the NYC Roots of popular L.A. '60s folk bands and that just whet my appetite even more. Their full albums, though, no Best Of comps. Just to get a feel. I've been listening to some other stuff from that era like The Buckinghams' Kind Of A Drag album, Freddie & The Dreamers, etc. And I just love the sounds. Also, I want to get into The Rolling Stones more. I've been REALLY feeling "Start Me Up" from Tattoo You lately, and now I just wanna grab much of their studio LPs from the mid- to late-70s and work my way backward to their 60s stuff. I'm REALLY vibing off of Mick Jagger's STYLE and WAY lately and it's just agreeing with me. Ahhh, the way he sings and carries on is just electric to my ears! I'm loving "Miss You" -- just the FEEL of that, ahhh, and wow, Keith is going to town on the guitars omg on "Start Me Up." TRS are just hitting me lately! Wow. I gotta get some of their full albums now.

geez, Mara I missed you!
and I love "Start Me Up" too. Rolling Stones are on my list so maybe I'll pick up Tattoo You too as my first RS album If you will, so will I

A singer songwriter named Lucia Iman.
Imagine a downtempo/lounge mix of Lisa Coleman meets Fiona Apple with just a hint of Rachael Yamagata. I found her music while watching a particularly jarring scene on Showtime's " The L Word", when we discover flawed romantic lead Shane McKutcheon is coming down off of (I think) heroin...she was in the middle of being seduced by her psychotic girlfriend's ex-lover. The underscore for this really made the scene for me, and made me an instant fan of Iman. Iman is Spanish by birth and has a myspace page. You can hear some of her songs, including L Word feature "Angel", and my other favorite "Submarine" http://www.myspace.com/luciaimanmusic [Edited 3/31/09 3:34am]

I'd post my list, but there are currently 262 names on it But I'd like to see your list you know, when i originally read this, my vision-impared ass thought you wrote 26 names instead of 262
