Lauryn Hill-Ex Factor

One of her best songs imo. I love the lyrics, they're so real. I can definitely relate to this song. This is really Lauryn at her best . Maaaaan, I miss this Lauryn so much sad.

"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

you could post almost the whole album and I would like it. But THIS Lauryn is over ten years over. I bet she'll never do music like this. Since 2002 she only relies too much on the guitar. Even the outtakes that leaked inn the last three years sound a bit like the MTV unplugged songs. It's sad because with a bit of production the MTV unplugged songs would have been better too (they are too raw imo)

i agree with that. i loved her debut and most of her work with the fugees, but those unplugged songs.... they were good, but with 2 discs worth, they all started to sound the same. i'd love to hear them fully produced with their own individual identities.

Lauryn did pretty much fall off the face of the earth after 'The Miseducation', I got excited a year or two back when the Fugees were rumored to make a comeback, but that fell through sad . I think that the L-Boogie we all knew and loved is gone for good.

And does anyone else remember in like 2001/2002 or so, Wyclef was running around telling everyone who would listen, that this song was about him. And of course he did it right when his album was coming out. I always wondered if there was any truth to this or if it was just publicity? Does anyone know?

Easily her best song. One of the last great soul songs imho.

Wasn't this song about Wyclef? Lauryn, just could not deal with the success that came her way. It's a shame.

I agree. That's why I said I miss the "Miseducation" Lauryn from the 90's. The Lauryn of today seems to be a different person and artist. I really don't know what went wrong there , but she seems to have changed completely. It's sad really to see what happened with her. She had so much going for her.

Meh, I always thought she was a bit sanctimonious (reading the Psalm at the Grammys...egads) and not as talented as a songwriter/musician/producer as she was trumpeted to be. "Miseducation" was realized by MANY musicians and songwriters - Hill's talent is not singular on that record, in my opinion.

That said, she was definitely positioned to take R&B/Soul/Black music (blah blah blah) to outer space and yeah - it sucks she wasn't able to. D'Angelo dropped the ball on that one as well.
