Black Men United Performing "You Will Know" on American Music Awards I had no idea Joe was on this track. Peep how sharp El Debarge looks and check out D'Angelo on piano and Salt 'n Pepa grooving in the audience. Whatever happened to Stokely? Scriptgirl, you crack me up..you will find you some EL by any means
necessary.. Look how smaller Queen Latifah was, I guess it doesn't take long for it to creep on you. But anyway, I love-love this song I play it all the time. I did not like Tevin's singing here, Even EL had to look at him like What? when he hit that note.Seeing Aaron Hall, young Usher, AlBSure, Christopher Williams and Boys2Men H Town ..wow, this takes me back. Makes me to see my boy Gerald. I can't believe most of the crowd was not up and feeling this song like Salt & Pepa was doing. You know it's hard to get Black Men To Unite. --Chills-- thanks for sharing.. Desiigner "Panda" LES TWINS x YAK FILMS | Laurent ft Skitzo & Boom Squad Inglewood (part 1)

That was DAngelo on Piano?!!!!!
Who is the person on the left of EL? Was this song out before or after one of the twins from H-Town killed in the car accident? I don't know if that is one of the brothers in the back row. Desiigner "Panda" LES TWINS x YAK FILMS | Laurent ft Skitzo & Boom Squad Inglewood (part 1)

Who the hell is H Town?
Yeah, El, looked at Tevin like, WTF and peep Usher showing his ass and acting like a punk ass bitch, trying to hog the limelight. Sit DOWN, Usher! I heard a story that BMU performed this song elsewhere and El snatched the mike away from Tevin. Don't know how true that is, but I would pay good money to see that ish. Oh my god! I had this performance on VHS!
I remember watching this back then and was cracking up when El turned to Tevin and gave him that What-the-f**k-was-that look. And how one of the guys from Intro laughed at what El did. Hilarious! BTW, Scriptgirl, did you enjoy the El performance I uploaded on youtube?

Now how many of today's black male singers can you get together to do something like this? Not many. Boy, has music changed
I enjoyed Gerald Levert's parts too(RIP Velvet Teddy Bear).

There aren't that many talented black male singers like that nowadays that I can name. Prince, Musiq, Bilal, the guy that did that song "charlene". Those are the only ones I can think of. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I love this song more now than when it was released nearly 15 years ago.

I've always loved this song -- our first taste of the genius of D'Angelo. R. Kelly was conspicuously absent for this live performance (Usher and Joe took his part, which is fitting since Joe built an entire career as a poor man's R). Raphael Wiggins (Saadiq) must've been a last-minute scratch, because his brother Dwayne took his part but they still had Raph's name. Keith Sweat was also missing (Melvin Edmunds of After 7 took his part and then sang his own).
The person standing to El's left is the third member of After 7 (the one who isn't Babyface's brother). Dino of H-Town was still alive at this point, but I only saw Shazam and GI on the clip. To the person who asked about H-Town, they were proteges of Luke Campbell (of 2 Live Crew fame) most famous for the #1 hit "Knockin' Da Boots" from '93. If you were alive then and listened to R&B, I have no idea how you escaped hearing it: 3 artists who participated in this recording have since passed away: Gerald LeVert, Dino, and Kenny Greene (lead singer of Intro). No, you didn't say Joe is a poor man's R But honestly I enjoy Joe's music more than R.Kelly's. "All The Things Your Man Won't Do" is my favorite song from him. Does anyone remember when they tried to do a female version of "You Will Know" They had the hottest R*B and rap female acts at the time on one song for the Panther soundtrack but it wasn't as good as "You Will Know."

I remember this performance. I think I have it on VHS somewhere. I remember thinking "some of these folks ain't the original singers" Under certain circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer.

But honestly I enjoy Joe's music more than R.Kelly's. "All The Things Your Man Won't Do" is my favorite song from him. I love "All the Things (Your Man Won't Do)"; it's also my favorite Joe song. Still, I think Joe has been riding the R. train since he debuted. I like the 3 singles from his debut album, the aforementioned hit, "Treat Her Like a Lady," and "Stutter," but there's not much else that floats my boat. R. Kelly was more successful and more consistent (until he hit a wall after Chocolate Factory). Does anyone remember when they tried to do a female version of "You Will Know" They had the hottest R*B and rap female acts at the time on one song for the Panther soundtrack but it wasn't as good as "You Will Know."
It was called "Freedom." There's both a rap and R&B version. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
