That cover looks too much like NIN's "Ghosts I-IV" cover. For NIN, it looks cool.

For U2, I don't like it.

"All that you cant leave behind" is still one of their best and one of the best albums in this decade. U2 like Radiohead can often be to "creative" for their own good, so hopefully they havent pushed something too far with this album, experimenting is a great thing, but hopefully it was a coherent experimentation.

I almost totally disagree. I think U2 is best when they're trying something new, and expanding their horizons musically. I think an album like All That You Can't... is solid, but it's no match for something like Unforgettable Fire, Achtung Baby, or even Zooropa, where they really tried to push the limits of their sound. I'm hoping that "Window in the Skies" from the last greatest hits was the last song in the "traditional" vein for a while.

The ORG here persuaded me to try 'Zooropa' and except for 'Lemon', which I'd always wanted from the album, I don't see much there.
The first U2 album I liked was 'The Unforgettable Fire', I've heard 'War', October', 'Boy' and haven't taken to any of them, although 'Sunday, Bloody Sunday' almost made me but frankly back then they were earnest but weren't doing much for me. It was always, come back when they can play . . . .

When I heard 'Pride (In the Name of Love)' the first time I knew who it was and that I wanted the album because they'd made that leap. I still love that album.
Other U2 hightlights for me are 'Achtung Baby', 'All That You Can't Leave Behind' (saying that makes me feel my age - it's the maturity I love about it.),
'Joshua Tree.' 'How to Dismantle . . . reminds me of Elton John's 'Peachtree Road', it's a personal assessment with music behind it. (Come to think of it that's what 'PE could have been . . . .)

I'm interested to hear it, and I like to think they are beyond just doing BS, we'll see. Be nice to see who influenced the album . .
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Gotta disagree slightly, i dont consider "all that you cant leave behind" a safety zone, considering they were coming off a part of their career where they were basically done, Pop, was a record that almost ended this band. The albums to me that are the ones i will go back to more are the better "written" records, im more concerned what they are going to pull out "writing" wise now, than what sounds will they mix in. I often worry when bands say they are mixing in the sounds of "today".

"all that you can't.." sounds like a greatest hits record. i'd call that a safety zone. of course, commercially speaking, they no doubt felt required to release that kind of record because they were losing long time fans with zooropa and pop so i get why they did it. personally, i was not excited over "all that you can't..." when it came out. i enjoy it now, but at the time i was disappointed with it.

'All That You Can't Leave Behind' surprised me because I didn't expect anything nearly as good as 'Achtung Baby.' For me they are close, with 'Achtung Baby' getting the edge.
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

WTF? "Racist tendencies"?

It's just my opinion that it's a lazy cover, don't look much into it!

is there a little leak yet?

man, i've been searching. haha...nothing yet

No leak.
All that I've seen/heard is a 23 second HQ snippet of Get Your Boots On. But that 23
seconds does sound very cool to me. The full song will be out tomorrow Monday the 19th. Maybe late tonight.
Btw, I like U2's more experimental side. I prefer Achtung Baby/Zooropa/PoP over ATYCLB/HTDAAB.

Right. wink
I think the new album will have more in common with Achtung Baby/Zooropa/PoP than ATYCLB/HTDAAB. They seemed pretty intent on going in some new directions for NLOTH. That said, I don't expect Achtung Baby 2. Nor do I want that. Just some good solid songs with added sonic explorations to make things interesting.

Here's where to hear a HQ 22 second clip of Get On Your Boots.
Kinda Vertigo meets Discotheque by way of The Fly.
For 22 seconds, sounds cool to me.

The single will be streaming on u2.com in about 45 minutes. Should be on iTunes by then as well.

Yep. It is live on iTunes. You also get 2 exclusive tracks for pre-ordering, but you have to wait for the album release.

Looking forward to listening with good headphones. The production is very dense.

It's OK, not great...

Anyone else agree that Bono is revisiting vocal melodies here that are way too familiar? I think his performance lets the song down - he needs to learn some new tricks soon.

The future needs a big kiss
Winds blows with a twist
Never seen a moon like this
Can you see it too?

Night is falling everywhere
Rockets at the fun fair
Satan loves a bomb scare
But he won’t scare you

Hey, sexy boots
Get on your boots, yeah

You free me from the dark dream
Candy floss ice cream
All our kids are screaming
But the ghosts aren’t real

Here’s where we gotta be
Love and community
Laughter is eternity
If joy is real

You don’t know how beautiful
You don’t know how beautiful you are
You don’t know, and you don’t get it, do you?
You don’t know how beautiful you are

That’s someone’s stuff they’re blowing up
We’re into growing up
Women of the future
Hold the big revelations

I got a submarine
You got gasoline
I don’t want to talk about wars between nations

Not right now

Hey sexy boots...
Get on your boots, yeah
Not right now
Bossy boots

You don’t know how beautiful
You don’t know how beautiful you are
You don’t know, and you don’t get it, do you?
You don’t know how beautiful you are

Hey sexy boots
I don’t want to talk about the wars between the nations
Sexy boots, yeah

Let me in the sound
Let me in the sound
Let me in the sound, sound
Let me in the sound, sound
Meet me in the sound

Let me in the sound
Let me in the sound, now
God, I’m going down
I don’t wanna drown now
Meet me in the sound

Let me in the sound
Let me in the sound
Let me in the sound, sound
Let me in the sound, sound
Meet me in the sound

Get on your boots
Get on your boots
Get on your boots
Yeah hey hey

I think it's a great song. I played it like 5 or 6 times in a row which I never do.
Great production. Some cool turns as well. Sounds fresh and energetic.
And it is def more Achtung Baby than ATYCLB.
Gotta hand it to the production team of Eno/Lanois/Lillywhite/Flood.
Yea the vocal melody is a little familiar but at least Bono sounds inspired. And he seems to be getting a little political again in a playful kinda way.
