Lily Allen cocaine "scandal"... must be a slow news day

Lily is in trouble over her comments "defending" cocaine use... seems to me she was just making a comments about the way the press sensationalise things and what happens? They sensationalise her comments! Not once is she advocating cocaine use, I don't understand the fuss confused

I wish I was still in my 20s.

Drug use among celebs is the unspoken demon that sits in the middle of the room being absorbed and ignored by everyone around it.
Coke readily flows throw the industry and yet people never speak of it in real life context.
No one ever seems to say that _____ recorded a wack CD because she/he was coked up/needled up/strung out. More times than not, its the truth.
Its only after the fact, when they've been caught or when its too bad for them to hide it (cough, amywinehouse, cough) till people consider it and even then, only for that particular celeb.
I've been talking about the ugly side of the industry on here for years without naming any names from people I know.
Truth be told, and I hate to say this because I've never done any of that mess, Lily is right. There are functioning cokeheads in the industry. What she doesn't mention is the other downsides to working with them.

You're right. From the little I know in the industry, it seems like the 80's never left. I just don't see how people think they can have a long career while doing it. As for naming names...you might have a shorter list of people who haven't done it.

Man, i know loads of people that i work with that hit that shit every weekend then go back to work Monday and continue with their career, no problems, work, pay taxes, and don't hurt nobody like alcoholics seem to do. It's just purely recreational in the comfort of their own homes.

I quit drugs like that myself a couple of years back, don't miss it particularly. But i have no problem with anyone (that has no dependants like children) that wants to.

not defending all drug use Laura. Just grown up folks like the ones i described in my original post.

I like Lilly! it's a young persons right to challenge what is conventional, she's quite brave and outspoken, considering she aint that big outside the UK. i dig that.

I'm not that bothered about those that see 'Drugs' 'illegal' = Automatically wrong. alcohol and nicotene would be illegal if they were invented today, an old argument sure, but not irrelevant.

Right on the money. If the government says it is illegal, then it is wrong. If they say it is legal then it is right. Just because it is legal, doesn't make it safe. You can get addicted to painkillers, sugar, saturated fats, nicotine, Xanax, valium etc. Like Socrates sad, Nothing in excess. Hell food is legal, and look at the overdoses we get everyday.Gastric bypass surgery because you can't quit eating. People addicted to food. Hell Aretha Franklin is addicted to food. But she gets a pass?!FOH!

I remember this fat guy said to this lady who was smoking, "you need to stop smoking" She told him, "You need to stop eating". Wow. One addiction is just as hard as the next one.

It is easy to use these tired arguments to defend drug use and not mention the destruction of families and communities that have taken place over the use in just the USA alone. I guess it is real easy to pretend the “crack” years in urban neighborhoods just did not happen. Sorry even if you are an adult you need a clear mind to deal with life or life is going to deal with you an a unpleasant manner.

How do you know that? Plenty of people can deal. sounds to me like you've never done any drugs, hard or soft. but just frown upon the use generally, as per your God/parents/media's instructions. therefore, don't know what the hell you are talking about.

Trust, I understand the destruction of people and communities over "drugs". Truly I do. Just ask Freeway Rick Ross, but that is another story. My point is, again, anything drug, whether legal or not, if you abuse it it will abuse you. If you can't handle it, it will handle you. A lot of good points were made by different orgers on this thread. I understand BlackKnight's comments. Think about how crack did certain artists, and I know how food has done certain artists, I know what cigarettes and alcohol has done to artists and I know what prescription drugs have done to artists. Any thing, and I mean anything done excessively will fuck you up. Hell, I have seen what sex has done to a lot of artists and communities.

Let me ask the org, is there anything that is not addictive?

Can anything not be addictive?

I guess it is all subjective. Hell, all of Washington is high on cocaine. Did someone say Noriega?

Drug money helped build America. And it still is, legal and illegal.

Damn, I am ranting. Must be the tequila!

The point I was making with the post is that as far as I can tell she is neither advocating or admitting to taking cocaine. She was merely pointing out the media's one-sided reporting of cocaine abuse.

And for the record I am and always have been free of cocaine but I take other drugs... nicotine, caffeine & alcohol, so I refuse to preach to people.

True

In addition, we were discussing cocaine not alcohol and from what I know from professionals i.e. doctors and drug consulors cocaine is extremely difficult to get off more so than alcohol.
I can include alcohol as a drug as I have been around alcoholics my whole life. I do not need to drink or use drugs to discover the effects when I can see them with my own two eyes. I do need my parents or the media to tell me how this shit destroys people and changes their personality. Perhaps you come from a suburban environment and you did not see people willing to lick a dealers shoe for crack or sell their daughter. Sounds like really sane behavior to me but, you go ahead and keep snorting.

I am the fruitcake but your up here on this board giving out some pie in sky b.s concenring drugs. Your out of touch with reality or under the age of 30 and don’t know crap about what crack i.e cocaine did to urban communities in the 90s. Get a grip on reality and watch the name calling. Now go back to your hole and finish your drugs and remember they call it dope for a reason.
