That may be true, but I think her CD was one of the coolest and unexpected surprises of 2008 (next to Erykah's CD).

that was kind of my feeling too when i saw a video posted in here a few weeks ago my immediate reaction was seeing someone talented and creative but what I learned afterward is that I was also with the Andre-isms.

Are people really bored with the Outkast sound? Maybe I'm out of the loop, but are there like, ten other bands copying Outkast right now or something? Is Outkast even doing Outkast anymore? I haven't heard anything from them in years.
I think the Janelle album is okay. Starts off strong, ends kind of blah. But I'd still rather listen to her than most of what passes for R&B these days.

I love her music. I like her "Audition" set better than Metropolis "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I think the problem is that when you're the first to rip someone's image/sound, people are going to roll their eyes. When you get 5 or 6 artists deep doing the same thing, then it's a bona fide trend/genre/whatever. Somebody's gotta go first, I guess, and take the brunt of it. I've only seen the one video. I'm thinking of checking her out to see if she offers up anything that isn't the female version of Andre. But the one thing I did see was a bit off-putting.
