Quite Possibly One of the Best Funk Songs Ever Made:

This is the second best true P-Funk song in history, in my opinion, at least on my personal funk chart it is.

It's called Shake Like T. Mofo by J.S. Theracon (aka Junie Morrison from the Ohio Players and Parliament/Funkadelic). It features George Clinton on backup vocals, and the layers of funk on this is unreal- the amount of interesting funk arrangements will blow you away.

This song was made in 1981.

Junie is a one man band, for those of you who are not familiar with him. He played all instruments himself. But on this particular track, he had help from the P-Mob on some of it.

Junie is the S***!
He pretty much single handedly wrote One Nation Under a Groove and (Not Just) Knee Deep. I need to get some of his solo work.
What would you consider his best?

All of his songs are extremely well arranged. The man has a natural ability to compose music.

That being said, here's my top 5 favorite funk songs of all time:

1. (Not Just) Knee Deep- Funkadelic (Junie was the primary composer)
2. Shake Like T. Mofo- J.S. Theracon (Junie composed- J.S. is Junie)
3. Controversy- Prince
4. Let's Play House- Parliament (Junie composed)
5. Man's Best Friend- George Clinton

Oh yeah. That's a good one. It's got a nice rhythm. Have you heard "Funky Parts"? Another good one.

Also, I know you know about the Ohio Players' "Funky Worm", right? That's a Junie track.

It was on a EP project that he was going to unveil under the pseudonym "J.S. Theracon". The other track on it is called "Buckets o' Duckats", and it's funky as hell too. If you look at Parliament's later albums, like Motor Booty Affair, Gloryhallastoopid, and Trombipulation, you will see J.S. Theracon in the credits.

Just that EP, I think. Though I've heard the track has been included on some funk compilation discs with tracks from other artists.
