Stevie has quite a few funky trax, but my favorite is "I Wish". Not only for the bass line, but also for the intricate keyboard parts throughout the song.
My other favorite funky Stevie songs: Gotta Have You Skeletons Maybe Your Baby You Haven't Done Nothing (definitely some angry funk). Let's Get Serious Do I Do [Edited 12/26/08 14:43pm] **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Love Having You Around from Music of My Mind (1972)
Too High from Innervisions (1973) Jesus Children of America from Innervisions (1973) Supersition from Talking Book (1972) Maybe Your Baby from Talking Book (1972) Boogie On Reggae Woman from Fulfillingness (1974) You Haven't Done Nothing from Fulfillingness (1974) Do Like You from Hotter Than July (1980) Do I Do from Original Musiquarium (1982) I think about half of Songs In the Key of Life has about a quarter of Stevie's funkiest stuff, but there are too many songs on that album to list. That album is not only his quinessential work, but it's his funkiest as well. [Edited 12/26/08 17:26pm] Check me out and add me on:

Maybe Your Baby, All Day Sucker, I Wish, Boogie On Reggae Woman, Superstition and Higher Ground are probably some of the funkiest things Stevie recorded.

Wanna know what's the best Stevie album in terms of consistency for me at the moment?
"Where I'm Coming From". Some of the most beautiful ballads he ever wrote are on there. Anyway...I reckon "Superstition" wins this one hands down.

...Shoo-Be-Doo-Be-Doo-Da-Day ...We Can Work It Out Dirty clav and James Jamerson's basslines. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Eh, I think "Maybe Your Baby" and "You Haven't Done Nothin'" are funkier. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Maybe they're too common, but I bet Higher Ground and Superstition are among my most played tracks. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

I was gonna include that one. Here's an interesting (chokes on the word) REMIX ... ...but it gives me an excuse to get political for a minute. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. ^^ LMAO!
Yeah I guess it don't hurt. I just love the bass in SSD... James Jamerson was a GENIUS with a capital G! If I'm not mistaken, that song (co-written with Syreeta, I believe) was inspired by Johnnie Taylor's "Who's Making Love".

Yes i've read that also. Some regard... ...as the beginning of his "breakout" due to the vibe of that track along with some of the other tunes on the record. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Before, much like Marvin, he was a writer, composer and arranger but he wasn't allowed to produce. After SSD, he began secretly plotting to get full control of his career. This album pretty much marked the end of his formative period.
