As a general rule of thumb with me, I cant get with Michael's ballads from the Motown era, or the j5's. Never really cared for "call on me". Interesting that they released the 1973 mix.

Whats your fav cuts on "farewell my summer love" then? I think only real diehards had that album pre- internet, as Motown never released it on CD. It was one of my first Michael Jackson albums, but as I said, I only really love "dont let it get you down" and "touch the one you love". I also dig "melody" and his cover of "you really got a hold on me" is nice too.

"To make my father proud" is ironic LOL

Farewell My Summer Love
Call On Me
Touch The One You Love
Don't Let It Get You Down
Melodie
To Make My Father Proud (this song seems sad what we know now)

I don't know his history, but I find it funny George Clinton co-wrote one of my fav Michael Jackson tracks LOL.

Speaking on MJ solo albums, Motown is putting out a comp titled Hello Word: The Motown Solo Collection (a 3 disc set.)

So that's 39 tracks, I wonder if Farwell My Summer Love racks will be included and Lokin' Back to Yesterday.

If it's gonna be 39 tracks, it's gonna feature the 4 Motown albums because each album was 10 tracks (Got To Be There and Ben both featured In Our Small Way)

LBC, what do you think if Motown released a boxset of all of the Jackson 5 songs they're released over the past 40 years? I mean, the songs from every album, the Christmas album, the live in Japan LP, all of the b-sides, and the songs featured on compilations....

I made a tracklisting and that shit would be 8 CDs! lol

Meh. Its something I guess. And maybe, just maybe, Motown will actually put some care into their remastering onto CD this time. We can live in hope!

Just spotted this. Dont like the album much, but "in our small way" is probably in my top 10 Jacko tracks.

It's a solid album, every song is a quality production and vocals are on the money. I'd put 'Maria' and 'You've Got A Friend' on par with any of his 'adult' songs.
