I love that song! In the summer of '85,that song was all over R&B radio. It has a hypnotic groove that you just can't get out of your head.Very underrated group.

Loose Ends had a few other great singles, such as "Slow Down"(1986).

2 hit wonder?

They had a few... Slow Down, Stay Awhile Child, Mr. Bachelor, Don't Be Fool.

Don't Be A Fool was from their last release in 91 I think.

Loose Ends was like mistermaxx said a precursor to Soul II Soul, the group was basically a Carl McIntosh project (much like Soul's Jazzie B/Nellee Hooper).

I remember seeing an interview on Video Soul (with Donnie Simpson remember him? LOL) and Jimmy Jam / Terry Lewis pegged Loose Ends as a rip off of their sound--a Brit version of S.O.S. Band. With the percussion programming of Hangin On a string and Slow Down I hear what they're saying, but those songs still were the jam.

Ppl used to walk around sayin "Don't take my heart to wipe your feet on" and Carl doin that crazy "wipe your feet" dance in the video LOL.

That's the only song I remember by the group, and I loved it too. For some reason that song SORT OF reminds me of something Change might do.

Speaking of Change, anybody here have their one and only greatest hits cd? If so, are the songs "A Lover's Holiday" and "Searching" the album versions or the single edit versions? mad

The time isn't listed on the back. I need to know! sad

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Awww, man, talk about British R'n'B breaking in2 the states, Steve Nicol, Carl MacIntosh and Jane Eugene set the trend.

Much respect 2 them...

When :I: was younger, ppl would say :I: looked like the younger version of Keyboard player Steve Nicol.
:I: eventually met the man himself when :I: was 15 at a service and it was almost like staring at an older version of me!! creepy... great guy tho'....

:I: think he eventually ended up having an affair with my 1st girlfriend... small world huh?

I had think on that for a bit, and I think I used to get Loose Ends mixed up with the S.O.S. Band for a minute. I have the remix or extended version of "Hanging on a String"..."I'm not your play thing...look on love." on tape, back when taping songs from the radio was the thing, and I also have "Mr. Bachelor" on another tape. Once I got the Best of the S.O.S. Band, the confusion ended.

Luther also appeared on a few Chic records (that's him chanting "Yowsah! Yowsah! Yowsah!" on their 1977 smash "Dance,Dance,Dance"),as well as recordings by Roberta Flack,Quincy Jones, and David Bowie.

"Watching Me, Watching You" from their third album was one of my faves. Hangin & Slow Down does sound like the early Jam/Lewis productions for SOS Band.
