I miss the guy. I understand life turned shit for him real fast in 04, but it's kind of depressing that there's really been nothing on the Bowie front since then. He's one of my biggest heroes musically, and the artist responsible for introducing me to all kinds of music I may have not been listening to otherwise.

Come back, Bo. bawl

Can someone clue me in on what happened? I have heard nothing of his life this decade. Is he still married to Iman?

Long story short, in 2004 he was on tour and got a lollipop stuck in his eye. And then he had (or almost had?) a heart attack.

I don't know how "Let's Dance" is regarded by the hardcore fans. I have always liked the song but I don't know if it is considered a point of departure from his previous greatness and therefore resented? Anway, I thought it was so interesting that such an unobvious choice for a dance group made the first cut:

Love how it totally works for what they are going for smile

Now that's where Madonna and Britney got their new dance moves from ... lol lol

I want Bowie to do a new album about being a parent.

I was all hyped for him to do a 3rd album with Visconti right after Reality. Nile Rogers name was being thrown around too and apparently Bowie wanted to take a new stab at a soul sound. I'm still jonesing for something like that.

I dunno. Have you heard it?

If you take out the annoying segues, it's a brilliant piece of work and I love almost all of the songs.

It's one of the darkest, edgiest things he's ever done.

I tried getting into it not too long ago but it was during the day so I don't think the mood is right. I'll check it out again soon.

I understand. Some things I really can't listen to in the day.

Try burning a copy and listening to it without the interludes. The songs stand up much better on their own.

It's kinda like his Rainbow Children, but more about art, murder and the new millennium and, ya know, not about God and the banished ones and stuff. lol

But it's very high concept like that and at times hard to penetrate with all the narration. But luckily, it's all isolated to seperate tracks.

It's been so long I can't remember but are the seques obvious? lol I agree, it has an extremely dark feel but during the day it just wasn't right.

Is there a concept I should be aware of?

I JUST got into Bowie. I Bought Aladdin Sane, Heathen, and Outside and absolutely love em. I plan on getting just about all of his studio albums. My favorite song of his is Let's Dance, with Fame a close 2nd.

chill..prince doesnt like men being front row, makes it hard to sing the ballads

I'll bet that will change with time, as you get to know everything else a little better. They're both great. But they're probably just ones you're most familiar with to hang your interest in exploring him on.

He did have a heart attack, and emergency open-heart surgery to deal with it. That's the reason the tour was cut short.

You definitely have to be in a moody sort of headspace to get into the album properly. And I recommend skipping over the segues. They're interesting to hear the first time 'round, but after that get a little obnoxious. Just pretend it's a Prince album and you'll know what to do. razz

Yeah, not knowing for 4 whole years that the Coolest Man Alive has a bum ticker is kind of a big misstep. It's not like he announced his favourite cheese in a press conference and you missed it. lol

I've been channeling alot of Joy Division and Tori Amos. And am now on a shared W&L and Joan Osborne Relish trip.
