I remember seeing the Jets in concert. It was in March 1986 and the bill also included Ready For The World and Doug E.Fresh with Slick Rick lol Talk about a blast from the past, lol.

Seriously, the Jets put on the best performance. They were very 'new' at the time ("Crush On You" had just been released as a single) but they performed with alot of energy and professionalism.I was impressed.I heard that Prince attended one of their shows from this period and he was interested in having them as the opening act for his 'Parade Tour'.

only heard of one song of the jets. But i just youtubed them and so far their music sounds so 80s, not just 80s, BUT SOOO 80s. Five star's music isn't as predated as the jets. System addict and all fall down are things everyone can like even 2008.

Both groups have an extremely 80s sound lol

I liked a few of five star's songs but they were just
jackson 5 knockoffs to me with female singers. I thought
the jets were fresh and original during their heyday.

I can't. I mean, I just CAN'T.

I LOVED both of those groups back in the day, BUT I owned the Jets cassette and have two of their Best Of CDs right now. (One didn't have "Private Number" on it.)

Sorry, but I can't.

In 1994 she gave birth to a son, Karan Saneinia, followed by a daughter, Hassa Alexis Saneinia a year later.

They were some cute and interesting singing Polynesians. You don't find too much of their ethnicity in hollywood, but you would see them in wrestling and maybe football. The Rock is half-Polynesian.

I love the Jet's last album and the first Greatest Hits Album. They were so R&B.

Five Star just edges them out because they could do a rock song, pop song etc...
Five Star didn't sit in the same box and also branched out into controlling the path of thier career by producing and writing thier own stuff.

Check out the Video for Five Star's "Theres a Brand New World" on You Tube. They were very different when it may not have been popular to be (on either side of the pond).

Five Star werent really mainstream popular in the US for very long. More like a flash in the pan popularity. The Jets were very popular for a few years and still have their old songs getting airplay on oldies and MOR stations.

Kind of a tie. I liked Five Star better but The Jets had more energy and more hits.

The Jets by far. You know, they once performed at my high school back in '89. In case you're wondering what school that is: Cooley High School in Detroit, Mi.
Peace and be wild!

Five Star suffered from being a british R&B group that had pop and rock songs. They weren't "black" enough with some of the later albums to be played on the US R&B stations. They were also considered very kiddie in the UK (Ala the Spice Girls) so trying to please everyone may have worked against them a bit.

I like the fact that the Jets seemed to embrace R&B and rode that train for as long as they could but radio changed in the years they were out (Urban radio used to play non-black artist buy gave them the boot before 1990. Sorry Teena Marie, George Michael, Duran, Taylor dayne, Sheena Easton.....hell even Gloria Estefan got so early 80's love on R&B stations). How many albums did the Jet's have anyway?

As far as I know, the Jets only did three albums...

'The Jets' (1985)
'Magic' (1987)
'The Best Of The Jets (1990)
(This had a couple of "new" songs on it)

If there was an album after that,it must have been ignored.I think there's also a Jets Christmas album that came out sometime during that period.

I remember in the fall of 1987,right before the release of their second album, the Jets announced some major plans. They were negotiating with Disney to star in two (!) movies, one of which was described as a "spy comedy adventure".There were also plans for solo albums by the lead singers,as well as a TV special.Unfortunately, their popularity quickly went downhill and those projects were cancelled. They released a new single in 1990 that went nowhere.
