Get what you can Quick in these stores, they went chapter 11, they will not stock anything new at this point for the most part, Virgin is next to close down, the 2 locations in NYC are going to be gone, and Best Buy is pulling alot of music stock out of their stores to reduce loses

My all-time favorite Earth,Wind & Fire album (I Am) for $4? Wonder if it's the remastered version with the bonus track "Diana" on it...

Those who have never heard this album must check it out! Some like their EWF soft...I like mine loud, fast & dirty, & the Phoenix Horns let themselves be known on this M.F.

ESSENTIAL.

It's sad that Circuit City is going out (I worked there as a Music Specialist in 2000; my first job..& my old store is closing), but "That's The Way Of The World"...

The Industry did this to themselves...
"System of Survival" for real, huh?

By the end of 2009, the only ones standing will be Walmart as far as carrying music, Best Buy will strictly do exclusives.

For those of you who like Babyface, "The Other Side of Cool" is pretty good. It consists of his remixes. Some of them are pretty hard to find:

1. It's No Crime - (IJ Extended mix)
2. For the Cool in You - (Chicago House Club Vocal mix)
3. My Kinda Girl - (Scratch mix)
4. Whip Appeal - (The Ultimate Whip)
5. Tender Lover - (The Long mix)
6. Every Time I Close My Eyes - (Timbaland remix)
7. How Come, How Long - (Laws & Craigie remix, featuring Stevie Wonder)
8. Rock Bottom - (CJ Deep Club mix)
9. This Is For the Lover in You - (Puffy's Face To Face mix, featuring Ghostface Killah)
10. When Can I See You - (Extended Club mix)

it will be strictly new releases in all of these venues, not a total elimination of "catalog", but a very big % of it will be gone from all of these stores, though these stores are selling music in volume they are losing alot of money, its "exclusive" deals it gets with artists are the only profit deals they are making, the deals with labels are hurting them just as much as they hurt the chains that closed down, thats why you wont be seeing "old cds" in these stores as time goes on.

I believe...you can order those CDs online. I've done that in the past on Bestbuy.com. Honestly, I can't imagine dragging my family out on Black Friday this year or going myself for some CDs...for me!

I can't imagine Best Buy won't carry at least a limited amount of popular studio albums and hits sets along with new releases. But who knows. Very tragic if it comes down to that. I still mourn the loss of Media Play from about 3 years ago!

Yeah look at how many times "Super Hits" came up on that list. The title screams "budget compilation".

I would guess it is the original issued CD for $3.99, but still is great if you can't find it.

I don't think it got remastered recently with all the studio albums.

They are budget comps that cost about $6.99 and they are probably overpriced! $3.99 is half the price but frankly, it's nothing to rush out in the cold and through the crowds for! I've never bought one, but they often come with awful covers (or decent covers but with an awful border around them and about ten songs....sometimes album cuts in favor of actual signature hits!). Probably no notes either. Think of the "20th Century Masters Collections"....but lessy classy!

The Super Hits comps are the most profitable thing that labels have, they make tons of these things, and the artists, well they make pennies if they are lucky, and the stores lose money on them for the most part as always. The reason that they are nothing but Profits for the labels is that there is NO promotion money spent, NO recording costs, NO artwork costs, even if you see a new picture on the cover, its NOT new its just something leftover from an old photo session, and last but not least, they dont really have to pay the artists anything for it, 99% of these comps are from artists that have no ownership rights so they are screwed in that right, and most of the time they will find a mix not released or a B side and stick it on the collection to get the diehards to buy it for that one song.

oh and forgot the fact that most of the time they stick the stores with a "no return" policy, meaning if it dont sell the store has to "eat it" and cant send it back to the label for credit to purchase other cds at that label that might move. So when a store sells it for $3.99 they are losing about 3 bucks a cd

If you were really geeked about these specials, might as well look on Amazon. They have most (if not all) of those same CDs for the same price.
