I know their bass player went on to produce crap as Fatboy Slim, but did they ever work together again?

I really liked both of the albums at the time, but it all sounds a bit too twee to me now when I go back to it. There was also an odds n' sods type compilation called (i think?) "now that's what I call quite good" that would be a good purchase if you like the albums, though there's a fair bit of overlap.

I like Beautiful Souths debut album! Some of their songs are still played on radio today in the UK. "Song for whomever" stills gets some play from me. Its a sweet song, but also a cynical one on another level

Song for Whoever was really a very nice song. I've never heard any other Beautiful South tracks, but I seem to remember that they were quite popular for a while in the early nineties in the UK.

For the record, here's Happy Hour, the Housemartins greatest pure pop moment.

Big fan of both the Housemartins and Beautiful South. All but the last couple albums of BS are worth owning, and even those later ones aren't bad--just kind of boring. I think "Blue is the Colour" is incredibly underrated.
