Janet just had better Production(Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis) than Beyonce. Janet is not..nor ever has been more "talented" than Beyonce. Beyonce is just guilty of bad Production. Period.

I never took Janet seriously as an artist, but i can enjoy some of her songs..beyonce obviously more talented ,but she annoys me sometimes with her voice, she screams alot

Indirectly, this is a comparison of eras, as well. But, Janet was queen of all things music then.

When Janet would drop a video on MTV in advance of her album release, during her prime, it was an event. She was huge then. But, it was a different time. There was more momentum concerning her products and associations.

So, you could jam to her cassette in your car on your way to the packed arena to see her perform. And, later that week, you could hear her slow jam on the radio right after seeing her tour rehearse on an episode of Arsenio. Entertainment Tonight might feature a spot on her and Michael, that same month. And everyone was going crazy about how fine she looked in her Poetic Justice braids at an awards show.

Industry-wise, Beyonce was close, a couple of years ago, to being just as ubiquitous. But, it's gotten a lot harder to be that consistently large when you have your own imitators and competition battling you for chart dominance.

And, does she have a production-staple equivalent to Jimmy Jam sustaining a high note? Doubtful.

As a fan of both artist, I will say this: Janet does not need to compete with these younger artist, they, however, can only hope to have the career that Janet had. Janet Jackson paved the way for Black female artist like Beyonce and Rihanna, so there is no comparison. Janet did what she did well as does Beyonce. Period. I would like the same people who are so invested in stomping on Janet Jackson by silly comparisons do the same for Madonna Vs Christina Aguliera. Vocally, we all know who will win this, but I am sure the Madonna fans (usually the Janet haters) would wage war. If I like more that one artist, I can afford to purchase both CD's.
