I'm sure it's been asked so sorry..Really good James Brown set? I'm thinking maybe two or three discs of all the essentials. "Hot Pants", "Say It Loud, I'm Black and I'm Proud)", "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag", "Get Up!", "Super Bad", "It's A Man's World"...hell, even if you throw in the Full Force stuff and "Living In America". He has some many sets out...what do you recommend that is affordable. Thank you. | |

Star Time ! is probably the best. Than after that, you got the 50th Anniversary and 40th Anniversary collections. If you want some pure funk, try 1964-1969 a Brand New Bag, 1970 Super Bad and 1971-75 Hot Pants sets. He also has his complete singles collection out. So far 5 Volumes have been released, 1955 through 69 so far ... PRINCE: Always and Forever

Just gotta get "Star Time".
Or make your own set with the JBs Anthology and Live from the Apollo. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

When I got Star Time in 1993, I hadn't heard much of James Brown's music. I remember being blown away because I discovered at least a dozen or so phrases, turns, figures, screams, riffs, etc. on there that I had always assumed was Prince's invention. Then I heard James Brown and realized that he did it first.
Get Star Time, buy it used if you have to. It is an excellent education on the history of popular music, especially if you are a Prince fan. Stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths...(Jeremiah 6:16) www.ancientfaithradio.com
