Forget Robin Thicke, Peter Cox is the best white singer on earth! everybody keeps banging on about robin thicke and jon b etc
but here in the UK, the best white guy soul vocalist you will probably ever hear is Go West's Peter Cox. Unique voice and nobody else sounds like him. a powerful voice and hugely underrated. This guy wipes the floor with robin thicke vocally! http://uk.youtube.com/wat...re=related http://uk.youtube.com/wat...re=related http://uk.youtube.com/wat...re=related http://uk.youtube.com/wat...re=related [Edited 10/24/08 4:10am]

Wow. I don't think I ever saw anyone claim that Jon B or Robin Thicke were the best white singers on earth. Or even r&b for that matter.

I forgot about this guy, but you're right. He's always had a GREAT voice.

American ears, I guess. The premise of that show, Reborn in the USA sounds pretty cool. I don't know if anyone here in the States ever saw the show or recognized any of the people on it. It's only a matter of time before someone in the States nicks the idea and presents their own version. Some people tell me I've got great legs...

I don't think either is the best on earth, I just think they have very soulful voices...and I like both styles. I do think Lewis is (or was) a Highly exceptional all-around musician and artist--world class. ... " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

What is Reborn in the USA? Is it some type of a contest as the Idol shows? "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...in_the_USA Reborn in the USA was a 2003 ITV reality TV show, in which ten former British pop acts were transported to the USA, where they were supposedly not known (though Tony Hadley, Peter Cox and Gina G had all had charting singles), in the hope of revitalising their music career. Each week, the American audience voted for their favourite act. The two acts with the fewest votes would then face the vote from the British public, where the following week the act with the fewest votes was eliminated from the contest and sent back to Britain. The series was presented by Davina McCall and the eventual winner was ex Spandau Ballet lead singer Tony Hadley. Then Jerico's Mark Shaw stormed off after being criticised by other participants for his drunken behaviour prior to the recording of the first concert. I couldn't have picked out *any* of these singers in a lineup. Imagine if we tried that? Sending out all the singers from Celebrity Rehab or Surreal Life to England and having them compete. The way the music business is today, that might be the only way most working, talented musicians can get some press. Some people tell me I've got great legs...

P.S. Robin Thicke sucks!! The lights go out, the smell of doom...

Total nonsense.
I guess your talking about the most soulfull white singer here, right? If thats the case, both Thicke and Peter Cox can't even stand in the shadow of Van Morrison. And not even in the shadows of people like John Hiatt, Lyle Lovett, Greg Dulli, Gary Louris, to name a few. Those people might not exactly release music that can be labeled as 'soul' in the first place, but they definetely show more soul in their delivery then 99,99 percent of the so called 'R&b and nu-soul artists'. Its one of the prejudices i can't stand: the idea you have to be black, or at least 'black sounding' and performing soul/R&B-like material to be considered 'soulfull'. Bullshit. There are (sometimes white) people in the field of folk (Susan McKeown, Kate Rusby), country (Teddy Thompson, Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams) or the singer-songwriter movement (Joni Mitchell, Damien Rice) that simply show way more soul in their delivery then most contemporary black artists. Soul is colourfree, its the essence.

Ondrej Ruml - a finalist of the Czech Idol Grace Kelly You Are the Sunshine of My Life Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head - this is in a bad quality but worth watching. He playes the banjo incredibly.
