I doubt I'll like it as much as BloodFlowers based on the singles, but I'm pumped!

Yeah, you probably won't. Bloodflowers was dreamy and millennium fresh. This is nothing like that album.

11. Sleep When I'm Dead

Cool that they resurrected this "Head On The Door" era track. I can see it fitting right alongside stuff like "The Baby Screams".

I like how fast and furious this all goes. Makes me want to start over as soon as the album is done.

My slight immediate faves are Scream, Perfect Boy and Underneath The Stars.

I feel you. Me too.

"The Scream" is deranged. This is almost "The Top" level of fucked up.

The way the album opens is almost misleading. It just gets more and more wild as it goes.

Oooh, the wildness of It's Over. Add that to the list.

I suppose he's single again?

13. It's Over

I guess this is what we knew of as "Baby Rag Dog Book" from the live shows. Again, another manic freakout. They definitely didn't end things on a friendly note.

Although it sounds nothing like Seventeen Seconds or Faith or Disintegration, it's definitely reminds me of those albums in that it sustains a certain mood throughout. I love eclectic Cure, but I almost appreciate a concentrated effort even more.

They should really do what Sonic Youth and Liz Phair are doing and do a whole tour where they play this album from front to back. It's perfect for playing live. Not the deepest, most emotional Cure record by a long shot, but a big shot of adrenaline that the band needed.

A more apt title would have been "Descending Into Anger"

I have no idea. I thought he'd been with Mary for like, ever. Could be. Every superstar is divorcing these days.

Yeah. Something's up. He seems to really work himself into a dither around the time he ages into a new decade of life. Disintegration, Bloodflowers, now this. He doesn't age gracefully, does he?

I can see how he said this was the more upbeat of the 2 records they made. Not upbeat in subject matter or sound, but more in tempo and tightness.

If this is any indication, the follow up of dark epics is gonna shred me. As much as I really enjoy this and the poppy, rocking Cure, I'm always going to be a sucker for their 7 minute mope fests. He was joking that he wanted to have it out just in time to make everyone's Christmas a miserable as possible. Bring it on, baby!

I got the album today! I've only listened to the first 9 songs so far, but I'm so happy to have another Cure album! It'll have to last us until 2012, the way things are going. mad

i've been giving this album more of a chance throughout the week than i thought i would...i'm liking it! nothing on the album is shocking me that much, but it's a very pleasant listen. it sounds more full and more like a proper cure album than the last one. good stuff. thumbs up!

Can't say I'm the biggest Cure fan around bit I do enjoy their stuff every now and then. That said I actually liked The Cure 2004 album. But I really like this new one as well. It's got an urgency and cohesiveness that the last one kinda lacked. I like the stripped down direct approach as well. Good stuff.

I really dig it after the first listen. I accidentally listened to it on shuffle, so I'm looking forward to hearing the true running order.

Yes.
Another thing I like is that even though it's kinda raw and stripped down, it's still got keys, synths and little audio trippy stuff tucked in the mix. It gives some of the tracks a nice pyschedelic slant.

Did you finish? How do you only listen to part of a Cure album? I sense reserved judgment.
